  1. I'm imagining all the old white guys that run our front office being "livid"
  2. Murray just tried to hire Babcock, though. Pretty hard, from what we're hearing.
  3. I take back what I said when I first heard that Babs was going to Toronto, he's not the total badass I thought he was. I thought it was more about him creating a challenge for himself and winning another cup and becoming a sports legend. Maybe he thinks that's all possible with Toronto, but it certainly seems like much more a $$ and status move, and becoming some weird amalgamation of HC/GM
  4. How the hell are they going to go about doing that?
  5. This is where I am, too. I'm pretty slutty, though, so I'll be cheering for whomever GMTM hires.
  6. Babcock highlighted and read this post. That's why he didn't come. Sorry guys :(
  7. I know, but that never bothered the Bruins and their Stanley Cup. I have reservations about his ability to work with young players, and he is by no means a perfect fit. But he's one of those "proven winners" that I wouldn't be opposed to.
  8. What do you mean by this?
  9. I'm glad somebody here is excited by us not getting Babs. Didn't somebody report that we had spoken to Bylsma?
  10. Or... Maybe it works this time. It'll probably be a good 3 years before we know anything. Toronto is in for some suffering, that's for sure. If Babs is able to turn them around without a terrible season or so then he's Hockey Jesus. Please. It's an every fan base thing.
  11. I'd take sexy Julien over Hot Daniel.
  12. Richards flamed out mightily with that contract, and he certainly wouldn't have put us over the top. There was a 75% chance we weren't getting Ekblad, an 80% chance we weren't getting McDavid. We also have no idea at this point how Reinhart and Eichel will stack up against Ekblad and McDavid. It's certainly not enough of a difference to complain about. I've never been more excited about the future of Buffalo hockey, even though we didn't get Babdick. Lighten up, ya big depressing lunk.
  13. I have no interest in the Disco Daffodil. If he does become our coach, I will refer to him exclusively as Hot Daniel.
  14. Used? Maybe. Business is business, though. The Pegulas should know that more than most folks. We'll never be happy. WE'LL NEVER GET HUGS
  15. In what way were they screwed? Schopp being Schopp.
  16. It was a good move by them. Locked it up with a normal coach contract while they had the chance.
  17. I can't believe those bastards in Toronto gave Babcock such a huge contract. What will the million and billion -aires that own NHL teams do?!?!?!
  18. It's Scott Pilgrim's sister! That's where I've seen her before.
  19. I loved Shaw's compete during the celebration. He wasn't going to let the fact that the goal might not have counted get in the way of flipping out and hugging his bros.
  20. I hope Babdick goes to Toronto. Not only will he have to watch Eichel rack up hat tricks against them, but we'll get to see if he really is worth his hockey salt.
  21. This is where my working knowledge of the league is starting to fail me. I hope to learn a lot from the next round or so.
  22. I think we had at best a 50% chance of landing him. Not landing him is just variance. Maybe we'll be luckier in 2027 when his contract runs out.
  23. Neither was I. I agree. If we're gonna pay him 6 mil a year, might as well pay him 8 mil. If Babdick is really going to Toronto he's a bigger badass than I thought. He's getting the most money (setting up his kids + grandkids for life), going to be on the biggest stage in hockey, and he's going to be part of their suffering (showing it really could be about the challenge for him). I'm disappointed we missed out on him, but not terribly so.
  24. I think that's the fundamental difference between the way you look at it and the way most folks here (including myself) look at it. Most of us believe that Nolan doesn't work well with GM's because there's a history. Obviously that's what we all want to think because we have nothing to do with Nolan anymore and Murray's our GM. That said, when I read that Babdick likes Tim Murray's style of being out scouting instead of a lot of day to day micromanagement, it seems like the Nolan situation may have helped in some way.
