ll be surprised if he is the pick, only because his arrival could be 2 to 4 years off and Botts can't wait that long. That bulldog type player is exactly what the Sabres could use though, among other things However, centers are still the greatest need. thats why I have guys like Cozens, Zegras and Newhook above Boldy, Caufield and Pod
-
it will be interesting to see the reaction if Podkolzin is the pick. Dangerous but worth the risk?
-
no but in hindsight he should win the Hart
-
this is an easy question to answer - find yourself the next Binnington.
-
At first I would be disappointed with Caufield at 7, especially if a talented Center was still on the board. Mainly because we already have smaller wingers like Skinner, Erod and Olofsson. Pod would be a disappointment too because he won't be around for 2 years and I don't want to wait that long. I loved Broberg at the Hlinka last summer but the questions of his hockey sense (since then) scares me, plus I really feel we need a forward, preferably a center.
-
I don't think we should bat-an-eye if Newhook who is listed at 7 on your spreadsheet is the actual pick.
-
I agree that was true in the regular season but I thought Dach was a beast in the playoffs. Maybe im remembering it wrong?
-
Does anyone else remember that ROR was once again part of a last place team that was about to get blown up before Binnington arrived on the scene? there seems to be no middle ground wth ROR, with the Sabres goaltending last season, im sure we'd be exactly in the same place we are.

The 2019 Stanley Cup Final. St Louis vs Boston
Crusader1969 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
It just goes to show how important a goalie is. If Allen remained the #1, the Blues don’t make the playoffs. UPL is probably the most important Sabres prospect at this time. -
Can you give me your perfect draft for the Sabres with their top3 picks? Mine is (Zegras or cozens at 7, Hoglander, Brink, Robertson or Tomasino at 30/31 and Mads Sogaard at 67 as they need to add another goalie to the prospect pool)
-
I totally agree. Now they have Skinner for 8 years, my interest in Caufield decreased significantly. Go get another Center. Be it Zegras, Cozens or Dach.
-
not sure where you guys are but get me one of Zegras, Boldy or Cozens and I'm good.
-
How possibly is Kaliyev 4th and Harley 5th? move Newhook up at lest 8 spots and its not that bad, oh and Krebs needs to be in top 13 as well.
-
not sure where they get their draft board but it definitely needs to be updated
-
sabres need a supporters club, all should congregate at one end of the stadium and chant the entire game. The arena should allow them to bring in flags and drums, much like they do at soccer games. I know the passion for the Sabres is there, just need a leader to get it moving any volunteers? Lol

31 Thoughts: “From what I’m hearing, there is some consensus developing around the top four or five. Jack Hughes and Kaapo Kakko are one-two, with Kaako widening eyes in the early days of the world championships. (Thumbs up to New Jersey’s social media team for lusting after both players on its Twitter feed. Very good.) The Rangers at number two can relax and be happy with whatever they get. A few teams I spoke with believe WHL Vancouver defenceman Bowen Byram and U.S. National Team Development Program centre Alex Turcotte are separating themselves at three and four, although Sam thinks one of Turcotte’s teammates — centre Trevor Zegras — is in that group. Sixth on his list is WHL Lethbridge centre Dylan Cozens. That brings us to No. 7. You’ll hear it millions of times between now and June 21. It is the phrase, “The draft really begins at…” This year, that sentence will often end with “…at three, with Chicago.” What the Blackhawks do after Hughes/Kakko affects everyone else. But, there is another variable, and that is who takes Russian winger Vasily Podkolzin. I’ve seen more of Thanos the past two years than Podkolzin, but certainly know his reputation. He’s a talented, talented player — as skilled as anyone available in June. But he’s locked into an overseas contract for at least another two years, which limits the number of NHL teams willing to consider it at this time. “If you need help next season or the year after, you can’t take him,” one exec said this week. “But if you can afford to wait…it could be like a delayed powerball victory.”

If you take Boldy you are taking the guy who is 100% going to be a strong NHL player. Other guys may have higher ceilings but I really love Boldy's all round game. Think he brings a lot of what the Sabres are missing.

Would a Top Free Agent Actually Sign Here?

Love the thought but IF Skinner is back, I think he should play on the 2nd line and Olofsson play with Jack. I can see Skinner producing without Jack but can't say the Same thing of VO. Have to hope Nylander is AT LEAST ready to take over the 3rd Line LW position of KO.

Chabot is probably the best taken at 18, though I really like Tuch as well 30th has produced Brock Nelson but I really like Steel and think he will be a very good NHL player for the Ducks. I would say that since 2010 the 30th overall pick has been fairly solid. The only one I would question is Merkley - he had a bit of a tough season in 18/19 but was a point a game player the year prior in the AHL. If you are at the top of the tier you get to choose the player who you think would best fit your team. Though, if moving to the bottom of the tier you were able to pick up another asset then it would be worth moving down.

here is a very good podcast from a couple of guys who have seen a lot of Byram playing in Vancouver. They poke some holes in his game that might make a team hesitant to take him when elite can't miss forwards are also available. Still think he will be gone prior to the Sabres but you never know.... https://www.sportsnet.ca/650/canucks-central-at-noon/

I think if it’s close you take the Dman over the winger. Plus sabres will be set at center for next 8 years once they break bank on Duchene ? Best case scenario (from current roster / prospects) who is the sabres 2nd pair LHD long term? Pilut?
-
wow, this would be an amazing result for the Sabres. I guess the reality is now it is possible, especially if Caufield gets taken before they pick. Imagine a team being able to write in Dahlin and Byram as their top 2 LHD for the next 10-13 years
