I find the definition of "generational player" interesting. I never thought of it being the player who define san era - I always thought of it as a player so great, you are lucky if one comes along in each generation. If it is merely the best of an era, frankly you are simply talking about someone who belongs in the hall of fame at the end of hi career. If, as I believe, a "generational player" is someone so far above the other's level of play that thy might only come along once n a generation (generally defined as every twenty years) then I think since I began watching hockey in 68 or 69 you are talking about Bobby Orr and Wayne Gretzky. Yes, you can win a Stanley Cup without a generational player as I see it because a Cup is won annually and I don't think there is currently a "generational player" in the game. n the other hand, having grown up watching Bert go end to end was ALOT of fun and he did help us play in a SC Final

I agree with nfreeman. I like the idea of an OHL game in Buffalo if they simply want more seats for an Ice Dogs home game, but to have the Sabres, as an organization, hold a press conference is absurd

It's almost impossible to beat a full time player who didn't score for an entire season.

Isn't that Northrup Knox in the upper left, behind Capt. Smith's hip?

To me he has an Isles pedigree in a god, 4 cup winning way) Not a Pens history. I guess it's an age thing

Any red blooded male who was around when Carly Simon released "You're so Vain" thinks it is a great song!

Forget about Patrick Kane coming to the Sabres

Headline says 8 years, but the linked article says Kane and Toews each signed 5 year extensions for $31.5. Can't tell whether it is 5 or 8 -
RIP Guy, and thanks for posting 716. Like a few others, I learned to love hockey watching the "Pepsi -caps" from the Aud greys. I remember being confused/sad that we were losing Trottier, Villemure and others just because he Sabres were coming.

Can we now get the Earl of Bud into the Buffalo Hall? -
Thanks Numark - I was most interested in the contract status I was just wondering about Fasching after reading that e signed Deslauriers

I've got to agree that "Thank you Sabres" and beating the Soviet Wings are unbelievable memories. My favorite goal was probably the OT winner in the Forum in the 75 semi-finals - we were coming home to vanquish the Habs! Favorite game I attended was watching Schoenfeld beat up Cashman - in the Zamboni entrance, Orr & adnais in the same game his rookie year

You could also get 1/2 price student tickets at Tops in the nosebleeds. I remember going to Braves games when the greys were the highest seats. Dr. Jack made that team special in his time as the coach

I don't know about Nichols-Timon, but I recall a Canisius-St. Joe's game in the late 70's played without fans because of the extracurricular activity involving both fans and players at the prior game.

Exactly +++ We need young talent before we need to fill in the veteran leadership, which will come through FA, if I understood Murray

Enroth and Hackett next year and the management team will know what needs to be done for future goaltending needs.

One difference between this team and 71-72 is that tie games no longer exist. Under 71-72 rules this team is still officially winless!

While Audrey is beautiful, (Princess) Grace Kelly is the most beautiful woman ever. I'll add Rear Window as the greatest Hitchcock movie ever. I also can't believe no one has mentioned To Kill A Mockingbird yet.

The greatest pre-1970 movies have already been mentioned - My Darling Clementine The Pink Panther others not yet mentioned Bonnie and Clyde The Graduate Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

I read almost no fiction, but I read Cold Mountain when it first came out. A wonderful read - Charles Frazier put together such beautiful language, that I have never seen the movie for fear of having the book "ruined".

I reread Zen last summer - a wonderful read Currently reading The Ice Balloon by S.A. Andree

Odds are you'll have to find a bar - VS on a hotel tv in TN is highly unlikely. You'll also compete with people wanting to watch the NIT that night.
