  1. Wait, wait....are the Sabres not a good hockey team?
  2. Part of me wants them to drop the next three vs. NJ, OTT & DET, 3 of the 4 teams who have fewer points than us....would be some interesting optics for sure. Certainly no point in actively rooting for wins at this point. Having typed this out and with a moment of reflection, it's not just part of me that wants to see this, it's mostly all of me. Burn this mother to the ground!
  3. It really is a dumpster. The Sabres are the Laguardia of the NHL.
  4. Newark has actually just had some pretty significant renovations and the airport is no longer the dung-hole it used to be. It's still a nightmare to fly out of if you're coming to the city, and I actively avoid having to travel through there, but once you're in it's kind of nice. In my opinion, Laguardia is the worst airport I've ever been to, although the new terminal looks nice, the rest of it is a disaster. Go Sabres? Eh.
  5. Our next three games are vs. NJ, OTT & DET, the bottomest of the bottom feeders. I'm curious to see how poorly we perform against them. We were gifted such an easy end of the schedule, these games could have been shooting fish in a barrel to help propel us into the post-season if the team didn't collapse so hard. I've never liked Phil, but after being convinced Disco Dan was the problem and that a coaching change would help push us over the edge. When things started going south under Phil I was hesitant to say "it's all on the coach" as we'd just been threw that, but man, he comes off as such a turd. Maybe it's that we hired the wrong guy, twice.
  6. To be fair Montreal is one of the coolest cities in North America and the food there is amazing. Anyone ever eat at Joe Beef? I've been there twice and it's something else.
  7. I'm rooting for Montreal here on out. Love that city and would love to see them bump he blue jackets from the playoffs after going all in with the FAs
  8. Kind of amazing the only team eichel hasn't netted one against is a divisional opponent.
  9. Would love a blow-out tonight. Watching the game with two of my hockey buddies who are Leafs fans at Wing Bar in the city opened up by some Buffalo natives. Labatt, wings and poo-pooing all over leaf fans would be a perfect evening.
  10. I have a 530 game tonight so I'll be missing most of the game. Will listen to the pre & post games biking to and from the rink. A Sabres win helps St. Louis fall in the standings to improve their draft pick while a Sabres loss helps us continue our plunge and helps our draft choice. Win or lose it's a win-win outcome for our draft day and a lose-lose in optics for the Organization (ROR coming into town running over us). I'm leaning towards the outcome that gets HCPH fired faster which I believe involves a 10 game losing streak.
  11. It seems reasonable that Anaheim has a chance to catch them and we'd end up in the 5th spot before the library. Really doubtful that NJ can make up 6 points on us but since the Sabres seem to no longer be interested in scoring goals to earn points, who knows?
  12. The Canes got shutout against Columbus yesterday which leaves them tied for the last wild-card spot. I expect they'll come out with hard and will be looking to score. If I were a bettin' man I'd not be putting money on the Sabres.
  13. This team is submarining, not tanking. Sub meaning below as in playing below their level. Marine as in all things aquatic as in the Sabres look like the ice has melted and they can't skate in water. Submarine a vessel that dives to unfathomable depths, see also the Sabres trajectory in the standings.
  14. Finally the Sobotka vs. Crosby match-up I've been pining for since the dawn of time.
  15. Chicago is up on TOR 4-0 after 1 The other games tonight all feature teams below us: EDM vs NJD NYR vs VAN As long as the hawks hang on this will be a a good night for teams chasing the Sabres. Let's hope for OT in the later games and a CHI win is extra special as Toronto is in the midst of a meltdown. Knocking on wood now in hopes they don't get their poop together.
  16. I like the "idea" of that 3rd line but it'll probably be a disaster. The Girgenson / Eichel D pairing is something I never knew I needed in my life. This late in the season and Big Z is a healthy scratch? No way he comes back next year, right? I feel the same way about Larsson. They've been here too long and mucked through all the ***** and they'll never get that stink off.
  17. Anaheim beat Nashville last night. They are tied with Vancouver for 65 points, 4 back on Buffalo. Just how much further can the Sabres skid?
  18. Chad Ruwhedel will accidentally deflect in a wide shot by Sobtoka.
  19. I am loving Dahlin's game. He's the lone bright spot of tonight. Nylander showed nothing but with the current line-up he's kind of in the Josh Allen scenario of "how can we tell if this guy is good since everyone else around him sucks" only not as dramatic and he's not that good.
  20. Woof. Shutout twice in a row. Can Pittsburgh make it three? I have an 11 p.m. game tonight...gonna be nice to lace em up and "cleanse" this one from my memory. Onwards and upwards. Go Bills!
  21. half watching the game I think I've seen Nylander look like he's trying on one shift. To be fair, it's hard to score goals in this league.
  22. Not if he can't get one.
  23. To be fair we didn't let in 3 goals in a 2 minutes span, so I'd say pretty good.
  24. It's hard to watch the Buffalo Sabres. This PP passing is puke-worthy.
  25. What about Vancouver? Would they trade Peterson for the #1 pick and put the Hughes bros together. That team loves having brothers together.
