  1. Thanks for the info. I think I started lurking here around 2008 or 2009. Looks like the actual games back then were discussed in a separate chat? Anyways, anyone looking for a sad trip down memory lane can look here. Last game of the 2006 season which was june 1st. Man what I'd give to watch the Sabres play into June: http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/4345-game-discussion-612006/ I think there was a "chat" where the games were discussed. Not sure of the reasoning behind it but from a historical perspective it's stupid. Maybe to prevent clutter in the thread but that seems counter intuitive to having a thread for discussion? Anyways, once Eichel leads the team to the playoffs next year this place is going to be rocking.
  2. I tried to look through the archives for an old playoff game thread and I managed to find timeframe of when we played Philly and the Umberger hit happened but I didn't see any actual Game Day Threads (this was april 20ish 2006, maybe they didn't have a naming convention we have now?). Anyways, I found this thread from april 2006 hinting that RJ was contemplating retirement. I for one am so happy we've had him a decade on-wards and counting: http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/3063-rj-to-retire/
  3. Love this Gionta gif (found on the habs forum):
  4. Didn't the Sabres shed Mitchell and Flynn to speed up the Tank? Or were they brought on to help the tank and then shipped because they demonstrated skill? At this point it's all a horribly twisted recollection, a distant nightmare.
  5. Has the Montreal brass publicly stated that they're due for some "suffering" so they could build up from the draft? The Sabres pretty much came out and said "were planning to tank" from the onset and that's what made it easy(ier) for me to embrace that strategy. I think the Habs are in a different boat since they started 10-0. Management wasn't saying "were gonna build through the draft and also be undefeated". I think my point is Sabres fans had more reason to "root" for the tank because it was the strategy that was laid before us. Having a player go down with injury (Price) is not an excuse to start rooting for losses.
  6. I'm super jealous of you. I've been planning a bachelor party in Montreal and I was really hoping the Sabres would have had a weekend game in Montreal this season but got shafted by the schedule. Hope Jack puts on a show for you tonight.
  7. Ovetchkin & Toews are bowing out of the all-star game due to "injuries". Meanwhile, John Scott's life force grows stronger.
  8. Doesn't get any closer than that. Can't believe they pulled it off.
  9. YEICHEL!
  10. Been a healthy scratch since whenever Weber came back from injury. Reckon they're keeping him healthy until they trade off weber at the deadline...I'm guessing he'll be packaged with mcginn or ochocinco.
  11. Holy god was that a pretty goal by Eichel.
  12. He just released a new album called Blackstrar a few days ago and it's incredible. Im glad he was able to give us one more before he returned to the stars.
  13. My bold predictions: Stafford has a 4 point night and Kane gets injured.
  14. I can't agree more with this. This trade helped solidify the tank and I believe that AZ would have beat us to the bottom if this trade didn't allow us to ice another AHL scrub to replace Stafford. Had the trade not happened Stafford would have gone hot the last 10 games of the season, netting 8 GWGs completely us over and then would have walked in FA.
  15. Looking at the rosters I say the Metropolitan wins the tourney and the Pacific finishes 2nd. edit: I also think Scott scores the first and last hat trick of his career.
  16. Thank you. I imagine Pysyk only needs a game, Lehner maybe 2? I want Lehner to come back just so Ullmark can be sent down and turn the Amerks around, get a good run going as I'm sure he's learned so much being thrown into the fire unexpectedly
  17. I said it last time we played the Panthers, an ideal scenario here is Jagr netting a goal or two and the Sabres winning. Last time he scored and the Sabres lost so we were half way there. The man is an absolute legend. He's 7 goals away from surpassing Brett Hull as the #3 all-time goal scorer and anyone who knocks Brett Hull down a peg is a friend in my book. Does anyone know off the top of their head the max amount of games players are eligible for conditioning?
  18. I might consider watchingnow that Scott made it...so that's something.
  19. I predict Edmonton wins the lottery
  20. So which line acts as the shutdown line? I'm guessing it'll be the O'Reilly line but I'd rather see that line out on the ice with their #1 priority to be scoring as they're our most consistant 5v5 threat. We can't rely the power play as it's in a funk and while I hope I'm wrong I don't see Eichel clicking with Girgensons or Gionta...he needs skill players. I can see Girgensons working out with him if he's playing hard and creating havoc by rushing the net. Who knows? Not me, I'm just some schmuck on the internet. I do think D'lo gets a goal tonight, he's been due and this game is being built up around him and hopefully Foligno will be ready to rock and roll after being sidelined the past few games. A first period goal and or scoring first would be nice.
  21. Yeah...I'm a few behind....I'm actually afraid to stay current with this.
  22. Still 33 seconds left down 2 men.
