  1. I'm just glad that in 8 games or so the tank will be over and icing a team with intent to lose will not be the agenda of the front office any longer. Hopefully that will put an end to the bickering here. I know my post count is low but I've been lurking here full-time since 2010ish. The past month or so I haven't been here much because the pro/anti tank back and forth has become tiring and two seasons of watching buttshitturdpoop hockey has worn me out. I have faith in the team bottoming out and I'm interested to see how we do in free agency/trades this off-season (I think GMTM will deal our other 1st round pick). Tonight is the first game I have interest in watching for a long time but I've got a beer-league game so I'll be missing out. Go Sabres.
  2. If the roles were reversed and the Sabres had a hot streak near the end of the season closing in on the last playoff berth, I'd be real nervous about us playing the worst team in the league. We always found a way to lose the "easy" games securing a mediocre finish of 9th or 10th in the division. Today I fear the exact opposite. Here's to hoping Grigorenko comes into his own over the rest of the season.
  3. Mike Smith just had 1 save in the shootout and only allowed 1 goal. Go Yotes!
  4. "We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet it should be noted that in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... human." RIP
  5. Can't remember the last time I had some fun watching a period of Sabres hockey. Hopefully they've learned from enough of their mistakes to keep a hold of the lead or is it only a matter of time before the meltdown starts?
  6. Awful power play there. Was that contact to Myers' head?
  7. Regardless of what was discussed earlier in the season, I don't see how you can't mention the tank in each game thread when the team has put up 3 points in the last 30 days. It's pathetic. Winning is losing at this point in the season, we're still on the wire with Edmonton so while I won't actively "root" for the losses to pile up I'm not going to be happy if we start stringing together wins. My biggest concern at this point in the season is just how awful our players are playing, especially guys like Stafford & Stewart who I was hoping would turn it on in their contract years so Murray could flip them at the deadline for some prospects ready to break out of dare I say yet another 1st rounder. That's all gone to pot. Blah. In other news, I scored my first goal in my 3rd official game after not playing hockey for ~15 years so I'm coming into this one on a high note. I'd also take watching the sucky Sabres over the Patriots any day. Eat an egg, Brady. Exactly.
  8. Edmonton wins in a shootout, we're tied for last! We keep this losing streak up well have the basement sealed off in no time!
  9. Edmonton tied with the Lighting 2-2 with 10 minutes left in the 3rd. Hoping for overtime at least.
  10. Haven't seen actual line ups yet but it's looking like a roster that is somehow even worse than last year: They will be some variation of below: Moulson - Girgensons - Ennis Stafford - Mitchell - Hodgson Flynn - Varone - Dalpe Kaleta - Ellis - Deslauries I understand injuries are a part of the game but this is just sad. And depressing.
  11. This is escalating rather quickly.... I gave up hope for the team a long time ago. Hate to say it but I'm glad they're losing this bad, kill the morale and ship it in. Although I'll never root for this team to lose, I'm complacent with having them bottom out one more time so we don't have to deal with this mediocrity/suckittude for years to come.
  12. Yep, pretty glad I didn't splurge on tickets tonight.
  13. Tried to grab tickets to this earlier in the week but the cheapest seats were $135 and those were for single seats only. If my buddy and I were to split a pair it would been $250 each. Sorry Sabres, I'll be watching from a bar.
  14. What's the story with Phil Varone? He's leading the Amerks in scoring with 18 points in 16 games. There's all the buzz about Armia & Grigorenko down in Rochester but I never hear Phil's name thrown around. Does he have any chance to make the Sabres or is he in Luke Adam status?
  15. Indeed. Here's my take on the above. Not really sure how to attach photos here so hope this goes through.
  16. Two regulation wins in a row? What sort of mirror universe have we entered?
  17. Nuevirth out, Enroth in. THE PLOT THICKENS!
  18. Glad they're giving RJ a good period to call. This is the biggest victory of the night.
  19. This season has been so bad I have gone out and bought ice hockey equipment and I am starting to play hockey again after a 15ish year hiatus. Watching the Sabres these past years has literally sucked the fun out of hockey for me to the point where I've said "forget this, I'll do it myself." Instead of watching the game last night I was at a stick and puck session at Prospect Park whacking around pucks and practicing my skating. Looks like I made the right choice.
  20. Why not give some players some reality TV shows to act as "fluff" during the off-season. Maybe force Kiko and Girgensons to be roommates for a summer and put the cameras on them, 24/7. I'd probably watch that. Or maybe have a "Punk'd"-eque show where someone follows around Leino and throws eggs at him, keys his car twice a week or maybe even cold-###### him just for the f of it? I'd probably watch that too.
