Interesting, so for these types of players is it more of an act of good faith of the Sabres saying, "we believe in your development" so he's some additional financial incentive for you to put the work in? Curious to know the terms of these contracts. Another question if anyone knows the answer, I know if a player plays 9 games it "burns a year" of eligibility on their rookie contract, this would have nothing to do with this? Assuming this guy doesn't touch NHL ice during the life of this contact would his next one pretty much be a standard rookie contract?

By virtue of being a goalie, yes, he is crazy. "Sports should be an escape from all of our terrible problems" - tell that to some of the Ukrainian Olympians who have been killed defending their country from the invasion. I think it makes sense to ban Russian athletes from the Olympics due to 1. The war and 2. The history of repeated doping scandals. You'll never get them to condemn the war as those are state sanctioned athletes and doing so would put them and their families at serious risk.

6 of the first 9 games are at home. This team better get their home woes out of the way early...although I'm also sick of hot starts that fizzle out. So I don't know how to feel about this.

Going with 3 goalies again would be a disaster, in my opinion. It only sort-of worked last year because Anderson was 40 years old and was there to act as a mentor. This year we'll have Comrie wanting to be the starter for the first time in his life, UPL whose put in the work to come up through the organization vying with the new wunderkid in Levi. I think egos will eventually get in the way in this situation.

Those 3 picks turned into Brenden Lemieux, Eric Cornel, and Vaclav Karabacek. I think Lemiuex is the only one whose played in the NHL - and he never wanted to be in Buffalo.

I don't love the signing but I also don't hate it. Our forwards weren't the problem last year. That said I'd like us to have a defensively responsible 4th line along the lines of Okposo/Girgs/Krebs but I don't want to settle for our 3rd line to be a combination of Jost/Greenway/VO/Mitts. I want to see a 3rd line that's just as capable as scoring as our 2nd line and will give other teams defensive fits. This means icing some of our shiny higher-end draft picks that have been marinating and not DG reclamation projects.

You'd be hard pressed to find an adult human being whose purchased a concession from Delaware North and didn't feel like they walked away with overpriced garbage. It'll be interesting to see if there's any improvements/updates at Key Bank center now that they've got a fire under their butts.

This might warrant a different thread, but I'm curious to see how teams approach the draft with Russian players over the course of the next few years. Do teams have scouts in Russia at this point? Or would the scouts all be Russian nationals? Will Russian players be able to even get out of Russia if the war continues to drag on?

I find it wild how many people undervalue VO, but I also get it watching him play when he's not scoring, it's maddening. That doesn't negate that he's capable of putting up 30 goals and I'd love to see him traded for a non-sexy D-man, another muel type who can really lock things down. With Kulich, Savoie, Östlund in the wings and the growth of Peterka and Quinn, we'll be able to make up those goals and if VO's replacement helps keep pucks out of our net then I think we'll see a positive goal differential.

The performance of that site is a joke.

Stillman hasn't looked great, maybe a motivated Bryson would be slightly better than Stillman? I don't know.
