I can do 10:30 next thursday.
-
I can do tuesday, but not sunday. Dammit TrueBlue, why you gotta make everything so complicated.
-
I can only draft at that time. All other times are unavailable. :P [i'm kidding]

I guess it comes down to whether you believe an election is better with some number of fraudulent votes, or some number of voters excluded by the system. It's a reality vs. theory thing. I think (most) everyone would like a vote where every voter gets to vote and there is no fraud. That belief is probably affected by the relative size of each potential problem. The data available seems to indicate that the number of potential fraudulent votes in this country is several orders of magnitude smaller than the number of voters excluded by ID requirements. The acceptance of that data, of course, would be affected by a persons level of trust in the people collecting and collating it. On the other hand, maybe there could be an argument to indicate that people with lower levels of education, the homeless, and people with disabilities should be excluded from the electorate, and that the elections are better without them. I'm not sure I could get behind it, but I imagine the argument could be made. And Ken Burn's Prohibition is AWESOME.

I'm in.

This will almost certainly increase our odds. This roster isn't bad enough to finish last against 4-5 teams that will be starting ice girls in goal by the end of the season.

Travel costs and arena scheduling (this guys don't get automatic first dibs like their NHL parents)
-
Occasionally you need to relight it when you get there. The water puts it out after big rains.
-
Totally unbalanced schedules all around. Some teams don't even play all the teams in their conference. The Amerks (west) play the Crunch (east) a couple times a year.

My best attempt at a from-memory transcript of part of the 8th inning of tonights Orioles game between the members of the Orioles Radio team: [White Sox catcher, Tyler Flowers, gets hit in the crotch with a pitch and goes down to the dirt, on-field delay while the Sox trainer comes out form the dugout] Joe Angel: And Tyler was just DE-flowered Fred Manfra: He got hit where NO MAN wants to be hit [Trainer heads back to the dugout] Joe Angel: So, Fred, what's the count. Fred Manfra: 2 Balls Joe Angel: You sure? [a good 45 seconds of two men in their 60s giggling uncontrollably] Baseball announcers are hilarious.

What? It was the first album I ever bought with my own money. It will always hold a special place in my heart. ;)

yeah, I wouldn't recommend that... what with fingers being referred to as digits on occasion :)

As long as you're willing to recognize your kettle-ness, we can bring this show to a close :) To be fair, I was mostly paraphrasing Alanis Morissette.

Are you enjoying the show? And this just about sums up preseason perfectly.

This. This is the condescension that makes me love you so much. How can you stand having digital intercourse with a person so far inferior to your intellect and experience as I am? Truly, you bring a depth to my life that I lack elsewhere. I appreciate your charity, and am deeply grateful for both for the lessons you teach, and the person I hope to one day become under your tutelage.

Puck Daddy's Summer of Disappointment Sabres Edition

Can't get behind the "moment" and "fashion choice" selections. But excellent summary otherwise. -
It is serving its purpose perfectly.

I'm was not ignoring the history of our discussions about young people while responding to your snide comment degrading young people and their engagement with charity. FWIW, I identify much more closely with my siblings and friends in their early-mid twenties than I do with people in their mid-late thirties. And as I said, your position, both written and implied, is absolutely accurate. Now, about those boots...

No, I figured you were talking about Millenials. I heard the statistics from one of the two studies (not the Florida one) referenced in the article a few months ago, this was the article that came up in a google search. I'm glad you think so highly of me as to assume I was referencing 40 year olds as the people you were talking about. This is by far more an indication of my naivety than your ability to jump to conclusions based on your hardened and immovable views on how the world works. I will work to improve my image, but I will need your guidance and advice. I have much to learn about how to properly assimilate into the narrative you provide. You are, of course, right about Millenials. While no stereotype achieves 100% demographic saturation, we are by and large selfish and lazy and believe the government should will take care of everything. Thankfully, we have x-ers and boomers to show us the true nature of the world. We certainly are incapable of creating community, as we spend nearly all of our time taking pictures of ourselves with our Obamaphones smartphones. I am prepared to change all that. I will get on my iPhone as soon as I get home from this hipster coffee shop where I am spending my unemployment check parents hard earned money and find a new pair of boots. I'll look for a pair firmly outfitted with straps from which I may pull myself up. Do you have any advice on where best to purchase such an item, or would the more prudent thing be to procure a used pair. You are wise and gracious, dear elder, please show me the Way.

ESPN quickly becoming E!, if it hasn't already. NBC Sports has a legit shot at taking a huge chunk of viewership simply by actually reporting on sports.

Wang will run the team for at least the next year: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nhl/2014/08/19/islanders-sale-jon-charles-wang-ledecky-scott-malkin/14292591/ phew... *wipes nervous sweat from brow*

The original 1850 story was entitled "St. Nicholas and his servant" and you're honestly going to write that he's not supposed to depict a black boy?

But Spreading democracy is such a FANTASTIC way to rally the flag wavers!

for me, the age limit for "younger" gets 1 year higher, each year.

I thought the center for the Penguins was Evgeni Plushenko.
