  1. FACT: The Younger generations (people under 44) are better givers than their "Rugged Individualism" predecessors. Not only that, they are more engaged with the causes to which they give. http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2013-04-16/features/os-young-charity-donors-20130416_1_millennials-younger-donors-nonprofits
  2. So 2019...
  3. So Logan Couture is a Sabres Fan....
  4. Yay! everything passes Constitutional Muster :D
  5. But there is nothing wrong with Liger, a citizen of the State of Georgia, venting his frustration about the state choosing to withhold information about options available to his fellow citizens, right?
  6. Thanks, that was one issue I had forgotten about. Living in Cincinnati for 7 years, I've developed complete deafness to players getting in trouble off the field.
  7. We'll need them since the D is gonna be on the field 45 minutes a game...
  8. WHL and OHL players will already be used to it. They travel to the US every season for games.
  9. It depends, how is she at pinball?
  10. I'm trying to focus on the positive, and just be happy for all the Schadenfreude Joy this is bringing to so many: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/early-lead/wp/2014/08/15/notre-dame-football-reportedly-investigating-four-players-for-academic-fraud/ At least the school is trying to do the right thing. I just wish it wasn't the #1 WR and #1 CB 2 weeks before the season starts...
  11. I have no idea who you are talking about.
  12. If you were aware, before the last 20 years, of the magnitude of police use of excessive force, or the disparity with which minority communities are policed even outside of the major racial events like King, 1964, etc, then I believe you have been far more tied into this reality than most White Americans. Good for you. I have yet to meet a human being that, when they believe they can get away with it, follow the rules 100% of the time to perfection, it takes about 20 minutes of driving on the Thruway to verify this with empirical evidence. I think it's safe to say that nearly all cops abuse their power to some extent at some point in their careers (this also extends to corrections officers). I really think that the implementation 100% on-uniform cameras would cause a much greater adherence to rules and policies designed to prevent this abuse. I should have been more clear on the protest comparison. How many journalists were arrested during the months of Occupy? How many armored vehicles rolled through Battery Park? How many tear gas canisters were launched? My initial statement incorrectly insinuated that NOTHING went wrong during those protests, which is obviously false. What I meant was the protest was met with a significantly more measure response.
  13. Police have ALWAYS abused their power, nearly all of them, at some point, to some extent. We're just learning about it now, because of social media and cell phone cameras. Ride a public bus, sit down next to an elderly black man. Ask him. Ask him if there is anything new. None of this is new, and I'm not talking about the Civil Rights Era and the civil unrest associated with it. I'm talking about 150 years of free men being systematically harassed by the police because they could. Hopefully the same technology that is shining light on this issue in the public eye can also bring an end to the abuse, and further the purposes of Liberty. None of this ###### got this ###### up during the Occupy protests. Same militarized police, bigger unrest, what was different?
  14. It's past tense. You're still good.
  15. agreed, it's run its course, but it was very successful. it appears people were both dumping ice on their heads AND donating money, which is pretty impressive.
  16. I agree, I'd say what we have now is State Military Forces everywhere, much in line with the Second Amendment, and we no longer have the Friendly Neighborhood Constable that serves for neighborhood law enforcement. Hell, we hardly engage neighborhoods anymore. If pot were to be decriminalized nationwide, half these low income, minority neighborhoods would simply be ignored entirely by the justice system.
  17. None of this is addressed in the second amendment, though. And the police's roll is absolutely to take up arms against the public. That's why we give them guns and send them out in the public every day. Who says police are supposed to be friendly? Friendly to whom?
  18. no, no. Why can't it be the police?
  19. 1000% increase in donations year over year since the start. It's working EXCEPTIONALLY well.
  20. says who?
  21. The police are the de facto well regulated militia the you(?) have been arguing for in your(?) assessment of the second amendment. The money to purchase much of this equipment is granted in the name of "Homeland Security". so yeah, national defense.
  22. I don't think we're even close to there yet, but that is definitely a step that occurs before armed insurrection. The police are the well regulated militia.
  23. Not until the State and Federal government fail to stop it. We're not even close to that point yet, lots of options between now and armed insurrection.
  24. None of this is new except the technology. Local cops have been arming up and using excessive force on minority communities in this country since it's founding. The only things that have changed are increases in police combat technology and the advent of cell phone cameras and social media. None of this is new.
  25. See you in October! :-D
