  1. Make the case for why his passer rating is inflated. He is top 12 in the league.
  2. Obviously. I just don't assess his talent at that level. But my jobs are in Manufacturing and web development, not Football :)
  3. Well the next day they traded Robyn Regehr and 2 days after that they traded the best player ever to wear blue and gold. I was just trying to avoid crying. Thinking about how the tank actually started on 4/3/13 (the only day in Sabres History darker than Black Sunday) is a little tough for some people, ok? Why you gotta be a bully?
  4. 1) I don't think it's a given that MM is a better prospect than JW, NFL-talent-wise, MM's legs won't help him as much there. 2) Eli is all over the place, and certainly an exception to the rule that you need a great QB to win the Super Bowl. But he is not an exception to the rule that you need a great QB to consistently make, and win regularly in, the playoffs. He misses as often makes the playoffs, and has only won playoff games in two separate years. 3) If EJ and be as good as Eli is when he's good, then we're in for a roller-coaster, but at least it's better than what we've had.
  5. geez. I'd have put those completely reversed. easier to train body mechanics than brain stuff.
  6. Samson-Ennis/Hodgson/Grigs(I've not given up yet, either)-Zemgus could be the middle of a playoff series winning team given one more year to grow. Samson/Eichel - Eichel/Samson - Zemgus is not significantly better than the above in 2015-16, but is significantly better every year after that. better, just not significantly better in Eichel's rookie year.
  7. I think EJ is better than those guys, and will develop into a fine 7-9/8-8 QB who might occasionally get you to 9-7 and a wildcard birth. I think those guys max out at 8-8 in their best years unless they have super-stud defenses.
  8. Because they played in the SEC.
  9. it certainly didn't start before the lockout. We spent a fortune on UFAs. We're going to win a playoff series in 2016.
  10. Can't do it, can't get behind teams I have no legit tie to. It's why I can't stand Cowboys fans, Yankees fans, all the new Red Sox fans, etc. It's also why I cant really follow NBA Basketball.
  11. The tank didn't start until we traded Leopold on March 30th, 2013, we haven't even been tanking for 18 months yet.
  12. Fair enough, I'm even in this boat as a fan, my argument is more me playing keyboard GM. I don't care if the bills win the Superbowl, or even a playoff game. I just want to watch one stinking post season NFL game and actually care.
  13. Please reread my posts above. I specifically say that in the NFL winning doesn't hurt you. Teams draft more positionally than in the NHL were it's pretty much BPA. No need to tank, but you gotta keep your picks until you find the guy.
  14. They tried, they didn't get the right guy, but at least they tried, they drafted one of the top QBs, they didn't wait and miss out. They just need to keep trying.
  15. He was chosen at the regular amateur draft. We won the draft lottery. There's a different way to do that now, but it's the same mechanism. In the Expansion Draft, we picked Tom Webster.
  16. Well, that certainly won't help...
  17. It's not just about picking next year. It's about spending the teams two most valuable assets to get a position player that isn't the difference between winning and losing. Arizona had Boldin and Fitzgerald together for 4 years before they finally got to the playoffs (2 years in a row). The difference? They finally quit playing games and made the proven top 12 talented QB (Warner) the Starting Quarterback and he was able to stay healthy for the entire season. 4 playoff wins later Warner retires ==> Cards go 5-11. Dude had a passer rating over 100 both his seasons? whatdya want? Russell Wilson is a top 12 Quarterback.
  18. Gotcha. they were closer in game six of the ECF than the 75 team was in game 6 of the SCF. You'd make a good lawyer. :)
  19. Ah! I'm not being clear. I'm all for getting all the talent you can at any time winning isn't the enemy here. The only caveat is you can't trad first round picks away until you are sure you have your guy under center. I think they'll be bad because EJ lacks in the two most important talent characteristics nfl QBs need: accuracy and reading defenses. But even if they win 7 games, they still could have used that pick to move up and get a QB. WRs are flashy and exciting, but they are the 5th or 6th most important position.
  20. Top Talent Quarterbacks beget winning in the NFL. The way the rules are structured and enforced right now, there is literally no other relevant differentiator between annual playoff teams and also rans. The big difference between the NFL and the NHL is there are other ways to fill that need than losing. Top draft picks get traded much more often, and top talent quarterbacks do occasionally become available. Improving the rest of the team might move the bills from 6 to 9 wins. Improving the quarterback could move them to 11. I'm going to repeat the first two sentences because they are so important: Top Talent Quarterbacks beget winning in the NFL. The way the rules are structured and enforced right now, there is literally no other relevant differentiator between annual playoff teams and also rans.
  21. Defense will win two fewer games this year. My proposal was the top half of the teams next two drafts. Not stafford and a 2nd.
  22. I feel the 2006 position requires an awful lot of prognosticating to overcome the 1975 position's stark fact of wins. We'll send it to the jury. I think this is a fantastic off-season debate. :)
  23. See here for background. Simple question, which team was closer to winning the cup: 1975 Sabres who lost the Stanley Cup Finals in 6 games or 2006 Sabres who lost the Eastern Conference Finals in 7 games
