I'm right there with you. Two of my family members recommended this to me this past weekend. It's in the queue.

A whale of a book. But seriously, it's a bit of a slog at times but totally worth it. Just finished all six books of the Old Man's War series. Some absolutely ripping Sci-Fi and the occasional laugh out loud scene. I will buy book 7 in hardcover when it comes out next year I enjoyed them so much. Currently reading Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Excellent Sci-Fi written in the style of Canterbury Tales. I will roll right into book two of the series shortly.

Well, now you're just trying to bait me into saying something rude as well. Adios.

Got it. Instead of breaking my toes I just deleted all three words of the comment. The last thing I want to do is interfere with the high level of discourse going on here.
-
Not necessary, but cathartic nonetheless.
-
Absolutely. It's blindness to optics and lack of focus on what's most important.

They're looking good to draft in the 8th through 12th slot again next year. Mission accomplished!
-
Your lack of an intelligent response is absurd. Just put me on ignore please. I already ignored you.

What's your rebuttal? Oh, you don't have one.

I expect a searing expose on his signing by Tyler Dunne

It's yet another data point as to how clueless the organization's leadership really is.

I rarely say "I called it" but this one was easy. -

Decent 3rd line left winger. Solid NHL vet, I like it. -
Sabres acquire Forward Beck Malenstvn for 43rd Overall

Can we agree his SabresSpace nickname should be Yngwie? -
Luke Kunin re-signed with San Jose. This is a big miss on the Sabres part. Could have had a Luke Kunin and a Luukkonen on the same team.

Agree. And he’s not signing elsewhere. -

He wants to be here! -
No need to admit you're wrong or acknowledge you are right on anything here. I get your point. My point is more specific. There has been plenty of speculation and even dedicated threads on this forum to the topic of the Sabres moving their first rounder for help now. To trade a first round pick the trade has to happen before the pick is made. After that, it's trading a player. Hence the deadline to do so is today. It doesn't matter how many such similar trades happen or don't happen. I am just talking about one such trade...one involving the Sabres. Likewise, tomorrow is the deadline for either of their 2nd round picks. Etc. I just want that bozo Adams to focus on making his team better. Not on signing Kale Clague.
-
OK, but if they wanted to land an impact player and use #11 (now #14) as a chip, that needs to happen by today. I expect we will be feeling very underwhelmed, indeed.
-
Scouts don’t make and trade the picks though.
-
@dudacek and you both make good points that I don't necessarily disagree with. However, I think any personnel move takes more organizational bandwidth than you might think. At least, that's my experience leading groups that are at least the size of the Sabres entire organization where each position doesn't cost nearly as much as almost $800k per year in base salary that Clague gets. All Adams has to do is make some substantial move(s) to improve his team utilizing his ample resources in terms of talent, picks, and cap space in the next couple of days and my concern will have been proven to be misplaced. I hope so.
-
Timing is my only concern here. Do I really care that they brought back Clague as a depth piece to play in Rochester? Not really. Do I care that the organization's finite bandwidth is apparently concerned with stuff like this RIGHT NOW in the days prior to and the same day as the draft? Yes, I am a little concerned as it shows a level of cluelessness as to what is the priority to improve the team. Sign Clague last week, or after FA starts. Not today!

I could see him being the backup for a year or two and then they unload him.
