  1. No need to admit you're wrong or acknowledge you are right on anything here. I get your point. My point is more specific. There has been plenty of speculation and even dedicated threads on this forum to the topic of the Sabres moving their first rounder for help now. To trade a first round pick the trade has to happen before the pick is made. After that, it's trading a player. Hence the deadline to do so is today. It doesn't matter how many such similar trades happen or don't happen. I am just talking about one such trade...one involving the Sabres. Likewise, tomorrow is the deadline for either of their 2nd round picks. Etc. I just want that bozo Adams to focus on making his team better. Not on signing Kale Clague.
  2. OK, but if they wanted to land an impact player and use #11 (now #14) as a chip, that needs to happen by today. I expect we will be feeling very underwhelmed, indeed.
  3. Scouts don’t make and trade the picks though.
  4. @dudacek and you both make good points that I don't necessarily disagree with. However, I think any personnel move takes more organizational bandwidth than you might think. At least, that's my experience leading groups that are at least the size of the Sabres entire organization where each position doesn't cost nearly as much as almost $800k per year in base salary that Clague gets. All Adams has to do is make some substantial move(s) to improve his team utilizing his ample resources in terms of talent, picks, and cap space in the next couple of days and my concern will have been proven to be misplaced. I hope so.
  5. Timing is my only concern here. Do I really care that they brought back Clague as a depth piece to play in Rochester? Not really. Do I care that the organization's finite bandwidth is apparently concerned with stuff like this RIGHT NOW in the days prior to and the same day as the draft? Yes, I am a little concerned as it shows a level of cluelessness as to what is the priority to improve the team. Sign Clague last week, or after FA starts. Not today!
  6. I could see him being the backup for a year or two and then they unload him.
  7. I got it wrong. Dakota Joshua is the name
  8. Dakota Joshua (4 years at $3.25 per) and Teddy Blueger (2 years at $1.8M per) both re-sign with Vancouver.
  9. Maybe pull the goalie already!?!
  10. Lol! ”so many conversations” about Okposo winning a Cup in Buffalo. If true, Adams is really delusional.
  11. Went to the Stones concert at Empower Field in Denver tonight. I have seen them before but wanted to share the experience with my youngest child who is 20. We had an excellent time and although Ronnie Wood and Keith are doing well for ~80 years old, Mick is clearly a mutant or cyborg or something to be like he still is at 80 years old. It was fun and a great memory with my daughter.
  12. We had a place overlooking Canandaigua for two regrettably short years and loved it. The downtown is so pleasant. However, as others have noted, it's a bit crowded in summer so we actually preferred the winter. It was still beautiful, and we could hike with our dog in Onanda Park and pretend it was our private park.
  13. The thing I like about Girgensons on the 4th line at a fair price is that he is a legitimate, veteran, NHL player who can fill a role and isn't still learning on the job. This team has had too many replacement level guys out there, or guys still learning on the job, to ever field a playoff team. The Sabres can keep Girgensons and then sign two more just like him.
  14. I believe this is called the Mike Tirico Syndrome. For a football fan with at least half a brain, it can be fatal over time. The only cure is turning off the sound on the broadcast or going the bathroom when it starts picking up, usually with canned, gaudy graphics.
  15. I think Dunleavy is below average in every way, pretty much across the board. I guess his voice sounds fine. That said, if the Athletic article was based on some sort of actual data (unclear to me that is the case or not) I think it's possible that a bunch of fans who read and post on a Sabres fan forum all off-season are perhaps not representative of the majority of fans that may consider Dunleavy a good announcer. I.e., maybe normal people do in fact, like him.
  16. I'll be rooting for the Oil but expect the Cats to win the series. I'd like to see McDavid and Draisatl get their name on the Cup and the folks in Edmonton just appreciate it so much more than folks in Miami.
  17. I am seeing him in Denver a month before you. Sound familiar? 😀 It's sort of a mini festival. At the Denver show it's Keb Mo, Samantha Fish, and Jackie Venson opening up.
  18. Okposo’s line gets caved in and gives up a goal. Looks familiar.
  19. When I see that Cancer PSA commercial with Trouba and his Mom I wonder to myself “does she know her son is a dirty POS hockey player?”
  20. Saw the All Starr Band in Canandaigua two years ago with my youngest daughter. It's such a fun show. Ringo is 83! I remember seeing him at 81 and thinking it would be great to be that capable and healthy as he was then, when I reach that age. He had one minor 'senior moment' but made light of it and just kept on going. His band was so great. Edgar Winter is amazingly talented.
  21. Next concert up for me is this coming Saturday. It's a bucket list item; the Grand Ol Opry in Nashville. They announce the acts as you get closer to the date. So far, 5 of the 8 or 9 we'll see have been announced. One of the announced acts is Loretta Lynn's granddaughter who was just on American Idol (I didn't see it) and another is golden oldie Crytal Gayle who is Loretta's sister, so I would guess they do a song or two together. If anyone has any Opry stories or insights I'd be happy to hear them.
