I've read a couple books on the Allman Brothers Band and they are pretty consistent in telling the story that in the picture Duane had been holding a joint and just hid it in his hand when the photographer showed up. Given the status of marijuana back then as a truly illegal drug, this was funny to the band (plus they were probably high as a kite). The picture of the roadies on the other side of the album shows them all gruff looking and holding beers. The story there is that they really didn't want to be bothered with a picture, so the beers were given as a bribe to pose for it.

I have tickets to see him May 13th at Red Rocks. Mavis Staples opening up is a bonus. Saw him open for Clapton a few years back. Quite the player.

We still have Thompson’s 27,28, and 29 year seasons before the 30’s. I also think his skill set will endure better than most into ‘old’ age because he won’t get any smaller.

I see that former Sabre property Devin Cooley stopped 49 of 50 shots last night to help San Jose beat Seattle. I’m glad Adams unloaded him. He might block Levi otherwise, and Tokarski is a great guy.
