Yes, deceleration injuries are a very big risk factor for concussions. In layman's terms, the brain has a little space to move around in the skull (surrounded by sheaths called dura) when you are stuck or decelerate rapidly in any area of the head or neck, the brain can shift and slam against those inner shells causing inflammation/bruising which is what a concussion is. Typically concussions don't show up on initial CT scans, those are reserved for intercranial bleeds and skull fractures, etc. That's why clinically concussions can be a bit difficult to identify right away.

I won't lie, this thread is actually more civil than I expected it to be. As a medical person myself, I would face stiff consequences if I was to even firmly speculate let alone disclose any information about a patient. VIP status or not. So it makes it simple, disclosure is up to the individual 1000% and regardless of how we like it, we have to deal with that. It sucks that's she's been out of the public eye for so long, that sadly doesn't bode well for a full recovery behind the scenes, but you'd be amazed at what a year of PT/OT, etc can do depending on the situation and perhaps the delay is because of a rehab program or something similar.

I feel that, giving hard news is awful, only recently, on Christmas, I had to tell a wife that her husband didn't make it. Worst part of the job by far. She punched the wall next to me in agony and frustration, not at anything I did, but because it's hard to get that news, she broke her hand in the process and needed to sign in as a patient. I have zero part in letting employees go, I will never be in that position again.

Religions say a lot of weird things. Lol I think I'm more opposed to organized religions more so than any of the other social stuff these days. But people will follow their chosen books down to their interpreted depths.

I'm all for the jerseys for whatever group. I'm also all for allowing people to have their own opinions and beliefs/values. Many very religious people still don't accept the LGBTQ&*=$ community or whatever it's called now, and they have a right to that. Makes it tough when you're in a position of power or sway in the media (as any athlete) but I think not participating in warm-ups is fair, he didn't openly bash that group and just did what was best for his own values. It's hard to please everyone in 2023 😂😂

It's time to admit, this team is what it is, flawed, young, and just not tough enough to make a playoff run this season. Maybe we'll see progress next year in the form of consistency, maybe more D structure, but we just don't have it this year.

I will also say that Thompson has not looked very good. I know that teams are actively taking him away (as they should) but his stick handling and puck protection have not had that same pizzaz as earlier in the season. He's looking a bit uncoordinated again. Could be fatigue, a poor streak, etc, but if he doesn't get back on track then we are in trouble.

I'm back to, Meh. I guess the whole season wasn't about making the playoff, and it was fine when that was the expectation. Once we got "good" it changed the perception around these parts and then we started laying eggs. Playoffs are a mere afterthought right now, but also my interest has decreased a little again. I don't know if the team is aware, but their rope is mega short after having an all time terrible decade.
