  1. We simply can't cure viruses, we haven't been able to for hundreds of years and we aren't going to anytime soon (except hepatitis C) we can get to treatments to help them lay dormant or to allow timing out of the virus so it can't replicate properly. Maybe we can figure out some of the miraculous breakthroughs that cure Hep C and implement that in research going forward; it's also rather sad, but a lot of "studies" being put forth are pure junk and speculation and being touted as actual science. Mostly because we have a need to have something new in our faces every 15 seconds.
  2. That's not the answer from an Ironman ??
  3. Cycling is great, I look forward to the days where I don't have a heavy training load, cycling for pleasure or just sightseeing is great too. But also ripping down a hill at 50mph is also a Blast!!! Until I realize I have to go back up it.
  4. And both Swedish and German Babes❤️❤️
  5. Wishing I was German or Swedish right now
  6. @New Scotland (NS) Istanbul and turkey in general are amazing. One of my favorite major cities I've ever been. Cappadocia turkey was amazing too!
  7. Let me pull down my pants..... And you'll get one small nugget ???
  8. I feel the same way, and I can't wait for the world to open up again, I'm itching for an international trip!
  9. It's so hard to nail down which are my favorite places, I also don't wanna hijack this thread ???
  10. These things are all true, it's certainly not easier, and it does require effort. I think the rub is that in America, sadly, effort is hard to come by, especially as of late..... I mean this on a whole, not in micro segments of populations. My takes on this are derived from seeing a ton of the world, we certainly have it very very good here in this country, almost too good some days. We are seen in a certain light here when talking to locals of Asia, Europe, etc; we give off this vibe of overweight, loud, and willing to share our feelings easier than a lot of other cultures, we have a specific way of dress and sadly we love our fast food, even in other countries, this confirmed by the lines of Americans I see at burger King and KFC in capital cities; These are all convos that I've had with people over the years. Even when it comes to this whole Covid thing, whether you agree or not agree the effort levels are varying so much. We all know my stance on this isn't super popular, but it's not hard to put some masks in my car and use hand sanitizer, I mean honestly lol.
  11. They make the dual sided pedals now, and speed plays, clipping in is a skill all in itself and you need to be initiated by falling at a stop light at least once ??, if you're just out for fun, clip in aren't necessary, but to push the pace at all, those are a solid purchase. On a side note, my triathlon coach is letting me trial an aero bike he had laying around, a Specialized Shiv, it's carbon which is super nice and the position the aero bike puts you in, it's just magic. If I like it, he'll give it to me for next to nothing and just let me pay in small increments over the next 2 years. I just took it out on my normal 30 mile route and I was flying! I was averaging 18mph on a course that I usually am around 15.5-16mph. The temptation is too great lol
  12. Soon you'll be at 30 no problem.... Another small tip, pedal like you're feet are in a shoebox, you'll engage the hamstrings more (if you're in clip in pedals) and take some of the brunt off the quads ?
  13. My damn achilles is killing me, I spent time in the sauna, foam rolled it, ice, elevate, etc... I only did a 3 mile run today and that was enough to make it come back with the a vengeance
  14. Actually vinnys had some pretty solid wings, the Cajun, hot, BBQ and mix all 3 flavors into one wing. They used to have wing night on Mondays I think, but I'm sure those days of super cheap wings are long gone.
  15. Dude, I'm living on GUs, Chews, etc for glycogen storage at this point lol. I've squeak in some pull ups/push ups, but I think it's a one or the other thing for me right now. My body still is in shock from the training, since at 35 years old I decided out of the blue to do one of the hardest events out there. That's ADHD for ya ???
  16. Bar Bill for the win, seriously, whatever they do, they do it right.
  17. I'm not the biggest guy, so I fear when I kick this Ironman training up another notch, I'm gonna start looking like a chemo patient lol. Damn you guys and your bigger builds ??
  18. Haha thanks, I am enjoying the fitness levels slowly but surely coming up. I should really be adding strength training to my regimen but damn I'm whooped after working and the endurance training. Take it easy on that shoulder man!
  19. https://themodelhealthshow.com/maskfacts/ It's 56 min long, but I recommend, sheds a little light, take it as you wish
  20. I use my coros watch, each lap around the buoys was about 500 yards, my sight swimming isn't so good so 3 laps ended me right where I needed to be ? And thanks!
  21. I was pumped after this swim, considering in January I could barely swim 400 yards in a pool, it coulda been faster but my achilles is really sore. Hoping that doesn't become anything too much worse!
  22. I'm not 100% sure if the supposed clotting issue is affecting just those with prior airway issues, the complement cascade that is responsible for bleeding and clotting goes much deeper than that, it involves the liver, lungs, etc. Then there's the other issue that Covid affects ACE receptors, which are very prevelant in the lungs and are receptors that are targeted in those with hypertension (high blood pressure). I think having a chronic or reactive airway disease puts you at risk a bit more because of the body's decreased sensitivity to airways irritation compared to someone without them. However I'm my back country opinion, I think that when all the s said and done, high blood pressure and obesity will be the biggest things that put people at risk. Sorry if this seems muddled a bit, it's a very very complex system and im trying to use layperson speak for it lol
  23. Nothing substantial that I've read recently, I think there are a ton of theories out there, but I'm hesitant to take anything long term with much trust at them moment. Just in general in terms of coronaviruses in the past, there have been small percentages that have some lung dysfunction longer term, but this strain is still a fairly big unknown. If and Its a big IF, the virus is causing clotting issues then yes, there will be some long term issues from lack of blood flow to whatever area clotted off, especially is they are subsegmental clots and are missed or mistreated at the beginning. YMMV as well as we can turn massive strokes around with proper treatment in a timely fashion; so in theory we should be able to treat any clotting issues from Covid
  24. Definitley not political on my part, we all know that politics isn't my thing and I mainly TRY to avoid them. I personally know about 15 people that had a positive test for Covid, only 2 of them needed medical attention beyond a hot toddie and some rest. One of those had a short ICU stay, one went to the ER, they were both heavy and the one that needed the ICU was morbidly obese. Not that this is some magic study or huge sample size, but it is telling in terms of my personal experience. We keep charging 5 bucks for lettuce while continuing to expand the dollar menu at most chains, and we're gonna see a lot of things worsen in Healthcare in general.
  25. The one thing I wish we could take away from this whole situation; we need to be baseline healthier in this country. The rates of co-morbidities that are preventable are at an astronomical high here.
