Loved Peca, but those highlight reel hits were getting fewer and farther between. His shoulder was spent when we traded him. He never fully recovered from that fight with Steve Konawalchuck, and it changed his game. In hindsight I think it was the right decision. I didn’t think so at the time.

Interesting that you bring this up. There was a little of the Eichel vibe leading up to the Mogilny trade. Alex was not a “good” captain. He got the C because he was the best player on the team, not because he was a big leader. He didn’t travel with the team a number of times because of a fear of flying, but I’m not sure anyone was really buying that story. He was reportedly traveling by limo. He was mercurial and you got the sense that he was a bit of a loner on the team. And the local hockey writers were not shy in their criticism. Jim Kelley’s reputation was top notch so the criticism was mostlY accepted locally. And his effort was questioned from time to time. He was my favorite player. I hated when they moved him. But the story the team gave the fans about Peca, him immediately living up to it, and the criticism of Mogilny as a team leader, quickly healed the wound.

Tyson Kozak a dark horse candidate to make Sabres roster
Weave replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
Kozak is going to need to find a niche to carve out an nhl career. He’s not talented enough to do it on talent. He is going to need at least one season, likely 2 or 3 to develop the kind of niche needed to have a shot at the nhl. -
At the time, noone had a clue that Hasek might be more than a backup goalie. I know when that trade went down, I was very “meh”.

I loved the Chris Gratton trade. A 3rd and 4th line center for a big, dynamic, physical 2nd line center to counter Lindros and Holik. Seemed to be just what the Sabres needed. Unfortunately, THAT Chris Gratton never quite materialized.

Interesting. That is prices from 20 years ago. Tempting…

***** Tom Cruise and the cult he’s fronting. And I am super excited to see Oppenheimer in a week or so. -
They are delicious. More people should hunt them.

if there is evidence of urine in the flooring, don’t bother with the enzymes and stuff. Go straight to painting with Kilz. You never get that smell out of soaked and dried wood. The only option is to cover it and seal it up. Kilz is fantastic for that. *has experience here

Hmmm….. Jinjer isn’t really my thing, but….. Hmmm

I think May tops my list too. I’d add Mogilny but he did return Peca so I got over it quickly enough. Trading Playfair to LA hurt too.

Rapids Theater?

We frequently used a fast break offense that thrived on long outlet passes. I see long outlet passes being the exception next season.

I think if you remove the s from https it should imbed. -
Given the expectation that there will be more focus on team defense, I think it is most likely that we will see a reduction in team scoring.

1:07 ave for PK time. He was probably 2nd unit. He was a 4 for Boston. It is hardly debatable.

“for a rookie” being the key words. He looked fantastically composed. His fancy stats were not great. They were great for a rookie though. I am not at all concerned about his offensive game developing. I am concerned about his near total lack of physicality in his game. The offense will be there. He needs to develop a bit of ownership of the blue line and boards.

According to Hockey Reference, Clifton was 5th among D men in ATOI, with Orlov above him. So its pretty safe to call Clifton a #4 D man for Boston before the arrival of Orlov. If you sort by total TOI he’s easily 4.

I think the biggest mismatch is Power. Will be interesting to see if he takes a big step or a small step, or has a sophomore slump.

Single A baseball in Batavia typically drew less than 1500 fans. I can’t imagine single A hockey besting that. -
Vinny had more talent than Ellis ever had. But it was a good try.
