Alot of those missed nets were due to sticks and legs in the way. StL did a fantastic job of clogging shooting lanes and rushing the shooter, something our team hasn’t quite developed yet.
-
My point regarding Tuch wasn’t really about size or speed. It was about getting another playoff hardened vet or two with plenty of cred and tread left. Another guy who can demonstrate to the kids what it takes to get past teams like StL.
-
What I saw was a StL team that hampered our opportunities by getting sticks and bodies in the way, played efficient, opportunistic hockey and buried the chances they had. Our team is built well to compete with them, but they used guile and experience to counter our speed. I keep seeing references to how big StL is. We’re built to match that now. Tage, Tuch, Power, Mule, Dahlin, Okie, Girgs. We aren’t getting pushed off the puck like we used to. StL didn’t physically beat us. They beat us with grizzled vet experience and determination. We need another Tuch or two to really show these kids the next step. We’re close.

Sea craft has been given a female gender as tradition. I seem to recall reading somewhere that she was sold in lieu of being scrapped.

I’m not sure I like Krebs and Cozens together. They don’t seem to be meshing. StL is putting on a clinic along the wall. Sabres better success has been away from the wall. Gotta bury those chances.
-
Man, StL sure can be smothering at times… Sabres showing them no respect so far.

Lol I’m not gonna challenge. Too many nights and too many glasses of whiskey have passed since then. We were early adopters!

I thought it was me, you, or Duda that coined the phrase.

Dis she get sold recently? My feeble memory is telling me she’s not part of the Naval Park inventory, but maybe I am misremembering something. I remember camping out in the USS Sullivans in Boy Scouts. She’s a pretty cool ship for a 12yr old. I’m guessing she’s overdue for the scrapyard these days.

Tage Thompson outscores ROR 3pts to 0. In a late roster move, Vlad Sobotka is inserted into the lineup and scores the hattie that Thompson had the assists on.

Except Detroit is actually ahead of is in the standings so it makes sense that they’ve owned us. -

I mean, if we lost to Arizona we’d all be talking about how the Sabres just didn’t show up. That doesn’t make us not right. #luvmesomedoublenegative -
Offseason Gameplan 2022 - Solving the goaltending system wide.

No. Portillo is not a luxury. We don’t have any goalies until we actually have a goalie. Portillo is key until he isn’t key anymore, which could be never. -

And from the same crew that roasted the team over wasted opportunity when getting a 4th rd pick for Scandella, who was subsequently traded for a 2nd. And moving a late 1st for Lehner. This is a serious potential loss of two high quality prospects. We should be concerned. That level of prospect is a precious commodity that cannot be replaced. -

I mean, we haven’t given any credit to Toronto in, I dunno, forever? Why the thin skin when they don’t give any credit to the Sabres? -
Interesting. I was just thinking this AM that we went from a good 1st line, two mediocre 3rd lines, and an AHL line to a very good 2nd line and three good 3rd lines. The middle six hasn’t been this effective since Drury/Briere left.

My observation is that Toronto is falling into the Jack Eichel trap. Every time Matthews was on the ice, all of his teammates were deferring to him. We all know how that ends. I was not convinced at any point before the empty netter that we had things in hand. Toronto was dangerous all game. But Toronto was not playing a team game. They were playing an Austin Matthews game. -
