Too lazy to look, and its a workday, but wasn’t there an article posted (in this thread maybe) indicating that Dahlin has some fairly poor advanced metrics relative to his Norris peers, specifically on the defensive side? I recall the metrics mentioned not being metrics we fans mention much, contested zone entries, that sort of thing. And Dahlin didn’t measure up with those stats. Unpopular opinion but, maybe our bias is showing here and he’s not a top 3 guy yet. Pg 2, Darth posted an article from the athletic. No subscription so I don’t know the context, but a clip Darth posted indicates that there are flaws that would keep Dahlin out of the final 3.

I’m guessing it is as much about an unelected king tather than a debate on nationalism and military PR like it predominately is here.

Not surprising at all. Darcy was quoted as saying teams typically turnover their roster every 3 yrs. That doesn’t mean every player turns over, it means 23 players going tthrough the door every 3 years.

He already explained it. Sheesh. You can always start your own concept thread.

Dahlin and Power absolutely for sure. I think you have to assume centers next so Thompson and Cozens. I might be convinced to exchange Tuch for one of them. I need to see a full season with Levi before I proclaim him a core player, but if he doesn’t establish himself as one over the next 2 seasons we might be *****. Wonder how the players change if we ever see them on a playoff series?

If you do not know who Bedard is, you should not join the……. ahhh, nevermind.

This appears to be the actual story.

I’m not convinced anyone ever claimed Risto’s game matured. The claim you are thinking of is, Risto would be better matched on a lower pair. I doubt his game maturing there was the rationale, lol.

Reassuring. Other than the Fedotov thing, for which I only have a dim recollection. -

Serious question. Are people even able to leave Russia right now? Is there a path here? -

Nearly every other team does a turn around in under 5 years and you think almost 12 is going to be acceptable. At some point you have to disconnect the now from the past because the two are so far removed. We are past that point. -
I think Promo is right. Dahls, Power, Quinn and Granato won’t make top 3. Dahlin probably has the only case to be there, but it is definitely arguable.

An athlete’s generation to turn the franchise around, in the process setting a league record for futility? While everyone was dancing on Boston’s grave last night I was thinking, Boston had already been a beast of a team for a few seasons before they definitively ended Buffalo’s reign as a team that mattered. During the ensuing 12 seasons, Boston had HOFers age out and retire, they re-tooled on the fly, and went on another 5 year tear, that might, MIGHT just now be ending. And Buffalo, with their sage decision to tank, might, MIGHT be on the cusp of being relevant again. You’ve gotta be ***** kidding me. I’ll never be on board with that. -
Ugh.

I didn’t understand the comment, but it is bed time as 4:30 comes early . No biggie.

When he was here, he played like he didn’t want to be here. We rarely saw this Montour. It’s too bad this team became a hellscape for other NHL players.
