  1. Your made up situation led me to assume. Give me a different made up situation with more detail and I'll have less assumptions to make answering your made up situation.
  2. The point is those jobs are out there, they're just not appealing. They can be obtained by literally almost anyone who will take it.
  3. Oh, so we're not trying to say who we think would win if they played each other? I misunderstood, thanks for clarifying, carry on...
  4. What happened to Deluca? Was he banned? I remember liking him. And Drane.
  5. Interesting thought. I picked this weekend to come home for a visit because it's the only one that had the bandits home Saturday, sandwiched by the Sabres Friday and Sunday. I'm very disappointed. I'm also thinking of driving the rental car back to Nashville instead of flying. I'm not sure if that's an overreaction though.
  6. The difficulty I have with comparing different eras is that players are bigger, faster, stronger than previous generations. Add in the focus on health, diet, not having to work a second job to make ends meet, year round training. It makes it difficult for me to believe that the 74-75 team could compete with teams from decades later.
  7. I think this is the best team. Hard to bet against prime Hasek though. That D was very underrated in my opinion.
  8. It's logical to infer that your hypothetical employee has no other training because they've been with this company for decades, they must be at middle management, making middle management money for quite some time. This employee is retirement age, and at the very least can draw social security if not a full pension. No savings after roughly forty years of working, much of which had to be at least middle management or better? He needs a part time job at McDonald's to make ends meet? Yes. Your hypothetical employee made a series of poor life decisions.
  9. Yes, medical reasons are valid. Do those medical reasons also prevent this person from driving a truck?
  10. I like the idea, but I find it difficult to compare teams from different eras. I'd be hard pressed to think or a team that could beat prime Hasek and twenty guys named Peca.
  11. Really? You know many people who were turned away by an army recruiter? For what reason?
  12. My views are very similar to yours and I agree with everything you've posted in this thread. We are definitely in the minority amongst SSers. It's not difficult to earn a living wage. It's real easy to join the army or marines. Decent pay, free healthcare for the family, free housing, 30 days paid vacation, GI bill where you not only get your tuition paid for four years, they give you a living wage on top of it. There's not enough qualified welders to fill available jobs. Join a union and go through an apprenticeship program and you can start out at$35/hr and draw a pension after twenty years. Get your class A license and you'll never NOT be able to earn a living wage. I'll stop with those three fields because their the ones I've personally worked in and have knowledge of, but I know there's many more. People complain about not being able to find work. What they really mean is they can't find the job they WANT, in the field they WANT, working the hours they WANT, in the city they WANT, for the money they WANT. Instead of earning a living wage doing something they don't want, they cry about how life ain't fair. It's BS.
  13. Aren't janitorial staffs typically hourly? I don't think they will be paid.
  14. I'm constantly touching/stroking/twisting my beard. Almost subconsciously. I wasn't aware how often I do it until the last couple days.
  15. Not paying hourly employees to stay home and not earn their hourly wage equals lack of compassion? I disagree.
  16. Is Pegula the only NHL/NBA owner not taking care of hourly arena workers? Are the workers even employed by Pegula? Not sure, but I'm guessing no. I read that other high profile athletes are kicking in to help out arena workers, are Jack and Jeff doing their part? No? Where's the outrage?
  17. Now that's funny!!
  18. Good to know. Thank you.
  19. Mail!! I hadn't considered that. If the virus can sit on paper for up to three days and your mail carrier is infected it would be awful difficult to protect yourself from that.
  20. Rohan? Was that a typo or a play on words I don't understand?
  21. Maybe not. I would consider three day and three hours a substantial difference though.
  22. Thanks. We're collectively *****.
  23. Someone help me out. Can the virus be passed through the exchange of paper, like a cashier making change or a server giving you your bill?
  24. I agree with everything LGR says about Sam. And almost nothing he says about everything else. Funny how that works ?
  25. Bloomberg dropped out and is now supporting Biden. Biden did better than I thought he would and has a lead, I'm happy about that. Warren finished third in her own state. Speaking of Warren, I think she picked up 38 delegates last night. Was it reasonable to believe she had no chance of winning the nomination? If she had dropped out do you think the votes she received yesterday would have more likely gone to Bernie, Biden or pretty much evenly split? Do you think those 38 delegates going to another candidate was enough to make a difference? Is it selfish of her that she didn't drop out for the good of the party? Questions are for no one in particular, just hoping to get some opinions.
