I think what we've decided on is when the grandkids are a bit older and our youngest son doesn't need us anymore we'll take extended 6-12 month vacations. There's decent countries where we can live like a king off of my pension, but she doesn't want to commit to anywhere without an extended stay. I guess that's the smart thing to do, but I can't wait to get started.

Donald J Trump, your thoughts on his Presidency
Hank replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Lunatics targeting political figures is not a precursor to rounding up American citizens. Slow down the hype train chicken little, the sky is not falling. Trump's mishandling of the Saudi situation is Democratic gold. Why in the hell are you guys going on about this theoretical crap instead of railing on him for something legitimate like that? -
Understood. I'm not above doing that myself. ?

What have these people told you they are afraid of happening to them? Anything specific? -
You should be, he was out of line. This seems like a very odd comment for you to make after declaring that you refuse to read those pages. What's your objective?

Do you think O'Rourke has a realistic chance to win in Texas?

This old trope? They're American citizens, yes? Is the New York national guard rounding up random brown people for deportation? Knock it off. -
Casino's take credit cards? I had no idea.

There's the confusion. I thought you were talking about SAT scores being biased against Harvard applicants, this being a thread about a discrimination lawsuit at Harvard. You're generalizing. I would think if a kid applying to ANY college must have at least decent grades. The obviously survived the many hurdles of poverty to get through high school. The mere fact they apply to college shows they are determined to get out of poverty. If they can't get into an ivy school they'll go to a state school. If they can't get into a state school they'll start at community college and transfer. Or, maybe they'll choose the military instead of CC and use the GI Bill. The enlisted ranks are mostly filled with kids escaping poverty for a better life. Poverty has much more to do with income than race I find your use of Roquan and Jimmy in your examples very telling. Do you have any thoughts at all on the thread topic? If not, what are you doing here? What is your objective? I'm sure you'll disagree with much of this post, and that's fine, I'd be happy to go back and forth with you on it, but how about you start a separate thread for it instead of derailing this one?

He continues to be his own worst enemy. I sure hope the Dems have someone I can vote for in 2020.

I don't know how to define the top 200. I have no idea what goes into a schools application process. Do you have an idea? Or, do you have an idea you think would work better? Every military base has colleges with satellite campuses on it, I took most of my classes through them. I walked in, filled out my application, then picked my classes. When I finished my BBA after retirement it was the same thing. I filled out the application, went down the hall to set up my GI bill, went across campus to sit down with my advisor, and had my class schedule before I left campus. I've never had to go through an admission process for college.

Every culture (at least most) places thier ideals and morals above others, it's always been that way, very few try to make others adhere to theirs. I don't think Trump much cares about others culture's, just about solid business deals, which he is currently trying to do on a national scale in his role as president. Other countries will always look to us for answers, mostly for our military, as they have since WWI. I don't remember Britain ever being a super power on our level.

Swamp and LTS, my knowledge of world history is limited, so please correct me if I'm wrong. In the most simplistic terms, the Roman empire, and every empire before them, invaded neighboring countries in an attempt at world domination, spread themselves too thin, and were eventually defeated. Is this correct? If so, how do you believe that to be our inevitable future? Government power may shift between Democrats and Republicans, and maybe one day a third party, but I don't believe any of them would deplete our military to the point where it's not the strongest in the world. We have no desire for world domination. We don't invade our neighbors. It's not possible to invade us. What am I missing? Help me out here.

I'm not expecting, or asking for, any standard, from anyone. I don't condone what she said. It's despicable. That don't change the fact that my previous post is 100% accurate. If it was a Democratic senator candidate from Iowa spewing nine year old hate it wouldn't have been posted here.
