I'm going after Brian Boyle to help shift Dzone stuff of ROR and to bring back some of the toughness we lost with Foligno. I'd still trade Kane though, I don't trust he'll sign here for a reasonable price but at least now we aren't needing to find a Dman for him and we can open in up a bit more. Also I'm signing Chad Johnson 1yr 1.7mil like his last contract with the Flames. But for now Kane-ROR-Okposo XXX-Eichel-Reinhart Girgensons-Larsson-Pominville Moulson-Boyle- XXX Deslauriers Maybe sign Vanek and Gionta to PTOs with the intention if some of the young guys can earn a spot we'd still have stop gaps for a year.

Shattenkirk wouldn't work here, he and Risto were 1&2 on D PP points a lot of last year which tells me we'd just be cannibalizing points we already have for the most part.

I think Botts hoped with the AHL starter spot open he could woo Petersen to stay, since he left he'll just keep Ullmark there another year so Johansson doesn't have to start out of the gate. And sign Johnson as a suitable backup, in case of injury we'd still have 2 NHL experienced goalies and not need to scramble to find one.

I'd love to get Vanek cheap to just play WR to Eichel's passes to the front. Plus we could have a 2nd PP with 2 guys that are great just outside the crease. (Moulson & Vanek) Thus we'd have 2 differing styled PP attacks with ROR/Eichel shooters to Reinhart's screens with Okposo and Risto aiding. The 2nd having a more old school get the puck to the net and between our deflection and jamming we should get goals there. Plus there'd be a better chance an opponent could counter such differing PPs. Plus Vanek devours the Bruins

I'd say yes to a degree, the fact his contract is also his number tells me at very least something was done to help the team going forward. Out of his ELC he signed a 5 year 8.7 mil contract. Then he signed a 12 year 8.7 mil contract. This one definitely seems that at least to some degree he didn't want to hand cuff his team.

Varying on his asking price, yes

I'd be tempted to offer Grigs a 1 year >1mil contract to C the 4th line due to his faceoff ability. That is if we can't get a Bonino or a Boyle to fill 3/4th Center and can't get the wingers to play Reinhart on line 3.

Kane and "54" for 21?

Shattenkirk, offensive dman with little skill in his own zone most nights and had a horrid playoff. Seeing as he and Risto both get their points on the PP, I see no use for him

I'd lose all respect for Botts if he trades Reinhart and keeps Kane. Kane is a cancer that needs to be cut out

I think we're trading him to Vegas to be honest based on the lack of a press release and his off ice problems plus Gallant's history with the guy. However I don't think it's to save Ullmark but rather to get another Dman that Vegas grabs.

I'd give him a 1mil x 1 year contract, Botts would know who he is and may hope to reignite the 25 year old injured guy.
