  1. Halak for Heatley and a 2015 1st rounder, that is what I'm expecting. It would be Halak for a 1st/2nd but taking Heatley frees Minn up to make another move if they wish
  2. During the offseason I'd go sign Morrow and Ott to add vet leaders back to the team. How many guys do you think will be gone by the end the deadline? I say 5 Halak Moulson Tallinder Erhroff Stewart I think Myers stays
  3. I think the shrug thing was more of a "well be fine either way" sort of shrug. What is with the Sabres and late season pushes?
  4. As always with Buffalo sports, 1 step forward, 2 steps back
  5. I don't think this will be the last we see of Ott or Miller to be honest. I think Ott will return in the offseason and Miller may return to backup in Buffalo for a year before he retires. At age 39 if he's still up to it. At very least I'd wonder if he'd retire a Sabre through a 1 day contract sort of deal. If Miller signs with them or they get to the Conference Finals while Halak is signed/moved I'd say it was a successful deal.
  6. Typically I love hypothetical trades, but after the 1st one which has been bounced around since last year, they become really strange plus Schopp's hatred for Myers shows up... gah If anything I'd amend the first trade for realistic purposes and add 1 of the other 2nds we have as a part of our offering. Miller + St.Louis's 2nd rounder for Rattie, Halak/Elliot and a 1st.
  7. The format is fixed now, for some reason it went crazy when I posted.....
  8. FORWARDS Cody Hodgson ($4.250m) / Drew Stafford ($4.000m) Zemgus Girgensons ($0.894m) / Brian Flynn ($0.638m) Matt Ellis ($0.550m) / DEFENSEMEN Tyler Myers ($5.500m) / Christian Ehrhoff ($4.000m) Mike Weber ($1.667m) / GOALTENDERS Jhonas Enroth ($1.250m) BUYOUTS Ville Leino ($0.000m) Nathan Gerbe ($0.308m) BURIED Patrick Kaleta ($0.325m) SALARY CAP: $71,100,000; CAP PAYROLL: $23,381,666; BONUSES: $475,000 CAP SPACE (9-man roster): $47,718,334 Ok, so what are we going to do? We have enough cap room to sink a ship; a good deal of RFAs like Ennis, Adam, and McBain, not to mention the many odds and ends we have on the UFA side of things. This is as far as I could get...... with resigning some players Ott would get 5 or 6 mil for 1 year if he wished to be a rental again, then we could hold 50% and make him cheap for a team. Ennis I just matched Hodgson's deal. Foligno I just gave him a nice little raise as I did McNabb and Ruhwedal. To be honest I don't know what to do about Adam. We could try to sign Callahan and Girardi I guess, and/or Jagr/Alfersson/Phillips/any other vet.... FORWARDS Tyler Ennis ($4.250m) / Drew Stafford ($4.000m) Steve Ott ($5.000m) / Cody Hodgson ($4.250m) / Brian Flynn ($0.638m) Marcus Foligno ($1.250m) / Zemgus Girgensons ($0.894m) / Matt Ellis ($0.550m) / DEFENSEMEN Tyler Myers ($5.500m) / Christian Ehrhoff ($4.000m) Mike Weber ($1.667m) / Brayden McNabb ($1.050m) Chad Ruhwedel ($1.050m) / GOALTENDERS Jhonas Enroth ($1.250m) BUYOUTS Ville Leino ($0.000m) Nathan Gerbe ($0.308m) BURIED Patrick Kaleta ($0.325m) SALARY CAP: $71,100,000; CAP PAYROLL: $35,981,666; BONUSES: $475,000 CAP SPACE (14-man roster): $35,118,334
  9. Oddly enough, Latvia scored the most goals on Lundquist thus far during the Olympics and is the last team to score on Price.
  10. Hmmm lets see..... Back when I was a toddler, I am told, I got high fives from many of the players in the mid 90's at the Aud as they'd head on/off the bench. My great-grandparents had season tickets next to the tunnel and had them from 1970 until my great-grandfather's death in '03, (He went to hockey games when he was 90!) At the Aud, their tunnel seats actually couldn't be accessed without crossing the home team's tunnel. They actually held up some Sabres for they'd actually stop to let my great-grandparents by. Later in the FNC, they had seats directly across from the 200 Level to Parking Ramp tunnel. They literally had 4 seats for just them +2. As for more recently, I bumped into both Hodgson and Foligno at the Sabres store during that 50% off sale after the lockout. Hodgson, quite literally walked up next to me and I didn't even notice him until after he'd gone and signed a kid's jersey on his way out. Marcus Foligno was far more hilarious, he walked into the crowded store with either his wife or girlfriend and practically no one recognized him. After some time, I actually walked up to him and thanked him for the great season he'd had with Ennis and Stafford that last summer, along with shook his hand. He was happy to talk with me briefly probably because I was quiet and he & I parted ways after a few minutes and resumed our respective shopping. He isn't a Sabre, but I live across the street from Fred Jackson, the Bills RB. He's a really nice guy, a family man at home too. A couple years ago my father and I helped him push his SUV into his driveway when he'd forgotten to hire a plow guy before his yearly post-season trip to Iowa and Texas to see family.
  11. This whole game reminded me of the first Rocky movie, Latvia fought against the favorite, held to the end, and though they lost on paper they earned great respect from everyone. Girgs and Ozlins led in ice time
  12. I wonder if we could still finagle Oshie off the Blues at some point, it'd have to be in offseason though most likely. Great win by the U S of A!
  13. In that last skirmish, if you replace Leino with Moulson we are almost assured a goal there. The tank rolls on but I really feel bad for the Sabres players, hey worked hard to get back in the game only to lose to a heartbreaker.
  14. How dare you list the I only reason to watch the sabres...(girgs) I said Moulson will have the largest return and no trades are done until after the Olympics
  15. Which D-man is the odd man out? If Risto,Zadorov, and McCabe all pan out who do we keep? Myers Ehrhoff Pysyk McNabb Ruhwedal Weber McBain only 3 of them would stay in the NHL. And besides Weber/Ehrhoff they're all young and typically successful Ds have 1 vet at minimum.
  16. If we were to attempt to trade Miller for Tarensenko, how much of the trade would Miller be worth? 25% 50% 75% ? I'm not naïve to think Miller for Tarensenko is possible, however with the depth St.L has already and their need for a vet potentially elite goalie if Murray were to insist on Tarensenko do you think it could happen? In the ideal scenario we'd have 3 teams(St.L, Minn{Harding still injured}, Wash) bidding at Miller, and potentially a couple others. (Anaheim? NYI? Chicago even?)
  17. If we have the #1, the first thing I'd do is see if we could fleece Edm into sacrificing goods to Buffalo for Ekblad, seeing as the last thing Edm needs is another forward.
  18. To be honest I'm glad they haven't yet, I don't want us expending assets to get a guy we can pick up in the offseason for free. I love him to pieces but not enough to trade for him when he's a UFA
  19. Myers looked like he was the only D-man tonight, -4 but only the 6th goal was really his fault. Girgs should be on the PP, he's better and playing "Leino's hard to knock off puck" style than Leino himself.
