I would have to be curious to ponder what we should do if the hypothetical scenario arose where we were hovering around the DeLuca .500 come the Olympic break. I certainly wouldn't push in all the chips for some nigh-kamikaze playoff run but I'd certainly search for a potential short term 26 to 28 year old player who has a couple years on his deal left. Effectively a J.T. Miller depending on his personality and price. I'd trade our lowest 1st this year and one of our Non-Power Dmen prospects for him. But only in that specific situation as center depth is vital in a playoff chase and run. Otherwise, a good goalie stop gap would be my only other potential target. Regardless I'd want to still go into this draft with 2 1sts and next year with at least 2 2nds; so effectively my budget is our lowest 1st, a 2nd in 2023 and one of the D prospects, likely Johnson. This does not exclude any sales of UFAs like Butcher, potentially Miller, and any JAG forward not named Girgs. Tuch would effectively be our default "playoff" acquisition.

Who exactly are you referring to? Tanev is the only defensive Dman I can think of who hasn't become a dud in the last couple years.

Great win! Cozens with the best game of his career thus far. Came up big when we needed him most. Toker very nearly had a Hasek save; good to see his work finally pay off. -

Predict the Sabres lineup for April 29 2022
thewookie1 replied to Crusader1969's topic in The Aud Club
Hmm Skinner - Mitts - Tuch Asplund - Thompson - Olofsson R2 - Hayden - Bjork Girgensons - Eakin - Okposo Cozens plays some in Rochester so he can help in their Calder Cup chase. Dahlin - Pysyk Hagg - Jokijarju Wolanin - Bryson Samuelsson plays in Buffalo for 30+ games but is with Rochester for their playoffs. Hinostroza, Cagguila, Miller and Butcher are all dealt at the deadline to an assortment of teams. Hinostroza and Miller bring surprisingly good returns whereas the other return 5ths or less. We retain half on both dmen. The Amerks last game is the 24th of April which would mean the AHL playoffs would be starting around the 29th hence the lesser roster. -
Depends on if they are inherently related; is he yelling because he's drunk or yelling at people and an alcoholic on the side.

Got myself the AHLtv package for the Amerks for these non-Sabre nights so I can see the youngsters 🙂 -

Murray from Prow and JJ -
Let's just hope this was more than just Bob Murray yelling at people because that would be a rather weak reason for him to be forced to resign.

Had he not been a freak of nature with his physical attributes and not shown in the World Championship that he could play with NHLers at a high end level; Eklund may have squeezed by him for the Sabres.

What we’ve learned from the Jack Eichel conclusion
thewookie1 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I’d lean on this side more than Terry wanting Eichel to suffer. If Eichel does end up having a serious problem due to the surgery; how would the Sabres ownership live with themselves for giving into Eichel’s demands again. -
I do like hearing we’ve kicked tires on Korpisalo; essentially we still need a goalie for the next 2 to 3 years. If UPL comes up and ousts the guy, that’s great. Otherwise we need at least 2 more years for Levi and Portillo to be NHL call up ready at least with 1 season minimum of AHL time. Tokarski isn’t a bad back up at this point but I certainly do not want to assume he’s anything more than an ok backup option. Anderson will almost assuredly retire after this season and UPL has turned into a pumpkin so far this year so I can’t count on him at all.

What we’ve learned from the Jack Eichel conclusion

Perhaps Kevyn hoped he could get Reinhart to stick around regardless of Jack and the past. If he were on the fence, Adams may have hoped to get him to shake off onto our side. -
I'm curious if he'll get a brick

Tage's problem was he'd lose the puck in-between his legs or deke too often until he gave it away. Plus he was weak on his stick which made him a very large puff ball with the puck. He's calmed his innate desire to undress every player around him and no longer looks slow when given some space to work with. Plus he's finally using his reach in all situations instead of merely using it to stretch pucks further out from his body. -

I get the underlying feeling Gionta still harbors a genuine distaste for GMTM undercutting his leadership before he could even establish anything. Effective Murray chucked a grenade into the locker room before they even had a chance to get started building a group. Probably the only sign of Gionta's effect left on the team is Girgensons whom he got to help mentor for a bit. I will always point out that Murray built the roster for McDavid, not Eichel. He acquired Kane to be his power forward whereas he always ended up in Eichel's way due to their similar styles of entering the zone; and we all know McDavid wouldn't of followed Kane's example due to him being a basic Canadian kid. Eichel on the other hand was a risk taker, liked a good party and hit it off with Kane almost immediately. What Eichel needed was a bunch of boring vets who preached hard work and practice. That no matter how good you are, you are still only one part of a greater team and don't have any off-ice "perks" with being the best. Kane seemingly felt that as long as he showed up to games and put up points; he had carte blanche to do what ever he wanted. -

Pretty much a game we lost due to a lack of skill; they got 3 deflection goals and a goal scorer's goal. Not much you can do about that. We got 3 goals again so that's a good thing. Dahlin wasn't a train wreck in his own zone
