  1. I’m almost done with Olofsson at this point. I can understand not being able to shoot; but the rest of his game has vanished. Where is the 200ft threat we saw to start the year? Rough night, unsure why the league endlessly pummels the Sabres with back to backs year after year. Mitts probably pots that last year but playing 10/51 games definitely leaves you a tad off your scoring touch. Without Dahlin our defense turns into a bunch of pure giveaway machines and lacks much of any playmaking ability. Jokiharju was the best of the rest but all of them made brain dead plays frequently
  2. The fact the Avs scored directly due to an ignored penalty that had 2 different penalties just leaves me outraged. God I wish Granato would rip the refs in his press conference like he did during the game. They deserved a better result
  3. Likely due to their age, need no holds bar every night
  4. Technically that would be tampering and potentially collusion.
  5. Based on how he cross checked him I’d say he was looking to inflict pain but not board him. He could of tried and end the guy’s career there with a check at the nameplate. So obviously Cozens wasn’t in a blind rage. I do think Cozens was jawing with him up the ice and Nelson just outright refused to pay for his aggressive “cup check” hence the lower back cross check which would be unlikely to injure Nelson but still give a message. Sometimes you need to do that. I’d tell him to be less obvious next time however. Granted the first time needs to be more public as it sends a message to other players that Cozens isn’t a wallflower. Lastly, Cozens doesn’t become a scumbag unless he begins doing this on a consistent basis and/or doing even more egregious actions. He didn’t knee Nelson in the head or slew foot him into the corner. Lower back cross checks are actually a common defenseman tactic as with proper hand placement you can get away with it rather easily.
  6. Partially he has only 1.5 years of NHL play under his belt. Partially due to lesser expectations. (Dahlin was deemed generational when he's more likely a star) And likely its also partially bias.
  7. No, because then he'll end up in Boston; don't even try to make that happen.
  8. The effort is almost always there; his biggest problem is that he has a tendency of running around. When he settles down he can be a solid defensive winger
  9. Great game, practically from start to finish against a team known for their structure and killing of offense. Happy that Olofsson finally threw the gorilla off his back. Dahlin making great plays in both ends, made Barzal look like a grinder on that 1v1 Cozens with 3As, Krebs with 2As
  10. He also had 2 more years of control so the value was higher
  11. That was in part why I was willing to go to 2mil retention if we got Tuch + Theodore, you could easily just pretend Tuch and Theodore made 1 mil more per year. With Tuch making 2 mil more in year 5. In theory if Eichel gets 1ppg and Tuch gets .75ppg then we win the trade from a financial efficiency angle. Why not .45ppg you might ask? Mainly because Eichel is a 1C player with Superstar talent. Tuch is unlikely to be ever as good as Eichel and is a winger through and through so that has to be factored in to their contractual AAV difference.
  12. Any idea if Matt Roy from LA has bounced back this year?
  13. The problem is goalies tend to be a shot in the dark. You could trade a 4th for a guy and have him turn into a star. Or you could be stupid and trade a 1st and have them turn into Aaron Dell 2.0 Goalies are such a risky venture in trades
  14. Bit of both, bad positioning but also a unlucky bounce on the pass
  15. I do not like the Fitzgerald and Samuelson pairing at all. Fitz has so many giveaways where he just does behind the back passes or just sending the puck through the middle.
  16. Nedeljokivic came out of left field last year and no team put a claim on him. So I’m not going to hold that against Adams like some kind of damning statement. If he had been picked up by someone and then did well I’d be more critical but all 30 teams ignored Ned effectively. It’s akin to crucifying your scouts every time they miss any player drafted after your team’s picks. It’s not like Spencer Knight was waived and we sat on our hands. Not to mention, how often are vet goalies waived prior to the season to make room for a random other goalie? Teams rarely if ever do that; probably some sort of pseudo-code of ethics or something. I do believe Adams wants a better goalie but has effectively put it as a “luxury” versus an immediate requirement. Colorado had a requirement and as such dealt a 1st to Arizona when their goalie suddenly jumped ship. Buffalo chose to go after cheap potential instead, after their likely starter jumped ship. It was both a difference in situation and general value. In the end Adams doesn’t want to scare away Portillo or Levi from signing while keeping the years on contracts short.
  17. Well why do we need to hear about that; we couldn’t care less about speculative money a potential owner could earn. We want the team here. Honestly I’d hope one of our crazier fans would scare any potential move happy owner by painting their lawn or something.
  18. I honestly don't see the Pegulas selling the Sabres outright; I'd still guess if any sales were to happen it would be one of those minority buyers for 15% or something. After all, the Pegulas can't exactly build a new stadium, sell the local hockey team and expect not to get even more brutal backlash.
  19. Jake Allen - Hasn't worked well in MTL mostly, I'd give a 3rd Mike Smith - Too old and too streaky Ilya Samsonov - Has done nothing worth making a move on, hasn't looked solid in Wash Anton Khudobin - Cap Dump with Dell-like numbers Anti Raanta - I'd give a 3rd, he's injury prone but solid when healthy Peter Mrazek - Unless Toronto pays us, no thanks. Competent goalie but I'm not doing Toronto any favors with their cap situation Jonas Johansson - No thank you Jonathan Quick - A 3rd or 4th, he's old but has had a bit of a renaissance this year Semyon Varlamov - Between his NTC and the likelihood he's a deadline deal somewhere I'd doubt we could get him (I'd certainly give another team's 2nd if we had one) James Reimer - a late 2nd or a 3rd Chris Driedger - has been a literal train wreck this year so no thank you. Likely a mirage from Florida's team Jonathan Bernier - a 4th at most Alexander Georgiev - not interested as his GAA has always hovered near 3 Matt Murray - Never, the guy lacks a glove hand and is prone to Dell-like play
  20. Must not have been interested in him; after all he played here last year. Also he hasn't played in the NHL since 17-18 where he played 1 reg and 3 playoff games for the Avs
  21. Yeah, I can see that; definitely has some feisty but no real nasty to his game lol
  22. Poor Power, literally waving his stick in the air half of the last 5 minutes and no one gave him a shot.
  23. Maybe he’ll get the start against China?
  24. No slappers still anywhere near the target. Presently he has a ok snap shot and a wild slap shot he takes occasionally. There is certainly a problem with his body because no body naturally goes from a sniper to Zhitnik with their shot after an injury without lingering effects causing them.
