  1. I'd have to think any possible trade of ROR doesn't happen until after Tavares does whatever he does 7/1. Drives the price up, and TPegs writes the big check that day making him cheaper salary-wise. Further driving the price up.
  2. They absolutely do, but let’s not be tools about it, gentlemen.
  3. Congratulations, Brazil. You’ve somehow overcome the juggernaut that is Costa Rica with a sloppy goal in stoppage time. By all means celebrate as if you’ve just won the tournament...
  4. And get traded during thier interviews about the team that drafted them.
  5. Leaner is bad. There’s really no other conclusion one may come to having actually watched him play every game on his Sabres tenure. Looking at his stats from two years ago as opposed to last year is a nonsense. Under Disco’s “Let’s give the puck away constantly but make up for it by enticing the opponent to take low-percentage shots” regime, his numbers were highly inflated. His shootout incompetence and penchant for coming up small in big moments over and over and over... not a coincidence. So when Housley and his “I know you guys suck but let’s play hockey anyway” exposed him further, the results were predictable. Good luck in the KHL this coming season, Robin.

  7. Bob lifted this pretty much verbatim from Bill Hoppe’s column earlier today...
  8. Pro tip: If Iceland win tomorrow, put every cent you have, and possibly some you don't, on a 0-0 draw between them and Croatia in the last game. Jeez, way to down tools, Argentina.
  9. Argentina has to have the highest percentage of punchable faces out of any team in world football. Well, Spurs, but Argentina wins the national team award, with England the closest behind them. I'm pleased to be able to share my tactical analysis with the board.
  10. ROR aside, if Bergevin doesn't trade down somehow and drafts Kotkaniemi at 3... it'd be a very Bergevin thing to do.
  11. This post should have come with a trigger warning. Seeing Teds and the word "tank" in such close proximity caused me to hear the most awful, blood-curdling noise... it took a few seconds to realize it was actually me screaming.
  12. This is what gets Flagg all crazygonuts. Dreger is effectively playing trade rumor jazz, with weasel words like "I've got to believe" and "I'd be suprised if..." with nary a single source to show why he's saying what he's saying. This will then get turned around and quoted as fact. All of a sudden, Edmonton is trying to land Risto because Dreger is "reporting it." Absolute silly season.
  13. I mean, that's literally what he was doing there. It just illustrates that even a snake gets the high ground when you're a C.H.U.D.
  14. Barry Melrose coached a team with Wayne Gretzky on it to the finals once.
  15. The Graham v. Harrington debate gets juicier... https://twitter.com/bytimgraham/status/1009274754199629826?s=21

  17. Hoffman flipped to FLA... looking for details.
  18. EU Immigration laws pretty much prevent kids from the US going over unless they have a dual citizenship allowing them to come in on EU passports, or under certain circumstances if the family moves over before the kid reaches a certain age. European clubs have been cherry-picking those kids for years. There's a kid (in his early 30's by now) from here in Roanoke who played for Arsenal briefly before injury wrecked his career, only made possible by an Italian passport thanks to his mom. The US national setup is chock full of German kids with US military dads, who came up through the German system but weren't ever going to make the grade there. It's exactly backwards. An investment needs to be made in actually making the situation here better. It's cheaper and more forgiving of laziness to maintain the status quo...
  19. Pulisic has a Croatian passport, and thus is allowed to live/work in Germany without needing a permit.
