I have never in my life heard a full arena go as totally silent as when Juneau scores that goal. Just fifteen seconds of nothing. Nobody even moved. Walking down the stairs out of the 300 level someone shouted “Thank you, Sabres for a great season!” The instant volley of abuse that guy got from almost everyone else was as sad as it was predictable. Sports fans are special. Myself definitely included.

Good on him for successfully employing the "I did not murder this woman, but I did dismember her corpse and stuff it in a dumpster because of reasons" defense, anyway.

When the draft happened absolutely everyone involved blew their tops,at the head start Vegas got. Point in case: Not even Feorge McPhee screwed this up.

This is rather revisionist. Look back to every prior expansion draft. The league's thumb can not be any more clearly on the scale. True, some (okay, one) GM's panicked and made a bad deal, but overall Vegas got to pick off everybody's middle six at forward and middle two at defense. This is unprecedented and awful. Particularly as contracts expire as early as this year and that's the end of that. The short-termism of it all is astounding. Vegas made a splash, don't expect a sequel.

I have grown to love Mer de Noms. But I saw APC open for Nine Inch Nails before the album came out, and left with the impression that they were pretty much fake Tool trying to convince us all that they are not fake Tool. Took me awhile to come around...
