  1. I hear you too and like I said I'm not knowledgeable enough to look at youtube videos of Vesey and then say he can (fill in the blank). But darn he's considering Chicago and he'll want top 6 minutes? There's something uncomfortable about this dude for me.
  2. There's just something about this situation I'm not liking. Now we're saying he's got an opportunity to be on the top line in Chicago? I think either we're or he's getting way ahead of himself. I'm not going to pretend to know college hockey players like a lot of you do - but this seems to be getting stranger and stranger. He better play well or IMO he's a built in distraction in a sport that is one of the last where that's a problem.
  3. Gosh that's a pretty big stretch to invoke racism. Your post doesn't make sense all the way to tongue and cheek to arrest him for that crime. The only thing I can see having an issue with is the picture being taken - but taking a picture of a known person has been happening for a very long time and isn't inherently racial.
  4. I think you might be right in terms of most fans read them but that's mostly likely because it gets linked everywhere fans frequent. I think the spirit of the poll is do buy or electronically go to TBN to read these 2. So in terms of actually reading - I'll admit I said no but I sometimes do - however only in the context I gave. I do not go to them direct for consumption and it's due to the content not their lack of ability to write.
  5. You're right we might be passing each other in the same direction. You have a better pulse on TBN limitations with labor - but it appears Dunne is a newspaper guy and after one year takes a non newspaper gig? I could totally be wrong but my guess is it wasn't an opportunity in terms of money that made him leave.
  6. He wrote for the news briefly in 2010 then spent 4 years in Milwaukee to then come back to TBN. After only one year it doesn't make sense that he wrote for newspapers his whole career and doesn't know what the earning landscape is. It could be as simple as it was a better opportunity. IMO, TBN losing Dunne is a problem for them when their readers or potential readers don't want the mainstay's like Sullivan. They shouldn't lose Dunne after one year unless theirs problems there.
  7. Tyler Dunne is a big loss for the reader. What's crazy is he's still going to be based in Buffalo - but it's unclear on whether he'll be covering Buffalo sports or at least to what extent. TBN can't keep a guy who's staying in WNY. They must have the analytics to prove guys like Sullivan are what they want. They're a profitable organization but it sure seems like they operate without understanding what their sports reader wants.
  8. Oh no that was intentional - there's no other reason to word it that way. Makes it look like it was a separate event instead of when we traded for him that's the contract we took on. Sullivan is a POS man - he lives for this crap because he seriously hates Buffalo - but he's so incredibly lazy he can't leave. TBN is stuck with him too because they can't keep young talent like Tyler Dunne.
  9. Good information. I'd imagine having the best doctors/surgeons in the world available at the very least helps.
  10. You're correct - you mentioned Pegula not Sullivan. In response to Sullivan writing about GMTM - he's also wrong about that. Instead of blaming Kane for his actions - he has to opine that he was right and the GM of a major sports team wasn't. He again clearly doesn't understand what GMTM is doing and can't comprehend that signing Kane is precisely the type of thing this team should be doing.
  11. He's been the owner for what 4.5 seasons. The first full was an attempt to spend money, extend Lindy and multiple attempts at honoring past Sabres - and started spending a ton of money upgrading the facilities. They quickly changed course and started the tank which clearly was an overwhelmingly good decision. He's been an absolutely amazing owner and the fruits are starting to show. Sullivan doesn't want anyone to believe that because he's bitter. He's realizing no one cares what he thinks and he hates that even more - and then he writes a pitiful article like this. I've spent a few nights with Sullivan but I don't pretend to know him well - however what you do quickly pick up on is he's a hateful little man.
  12. That's not the point. The Buffalo News doesn't just blame Kane - they have to add that it's incompetence on the part of the organization and that Sullivan was right about it. Why can't the piece say "The Sabres took a chance on Kane and he's blowing it"? The answer is because they're really bad at what they do.
  13. I never totally understood the injury concern. He had a concussion - so that's really not a concern in terms of reoccurring. The obvious ankle injury is a concern but if we understand it better - he came back too soon and the ankle never fully healed. After surgery and plenty of time to heal, it should be fine. I guess I'm just not ready to say he's injury prone (not that you did) because of an injury he suffered and fought through. If anything I'm more inclined to say the Sabres should have let it fully heal before allowing him to come back.
  14. He only had a couple bad games - the others were average to very good, IMO. I think he's shown the ability to be average for sure and flashes of being very good.
  15. We're the more talented team - slightly at the top but especially at the middle and ends of our starting lineups.
  16. I thought the date was August 15th... wait that's something else.
  17. I hate to beat up on you man but you painted a pretty bleak picture by saying "he's doing decent drafting and signing a few guys". As many experts have said tirelessly free agency isn't how you build your team yet he signed Okposo arguably the top FA and to a very fair deal - so he's spending very wisely while adding young veteran players. He's drafted, traded or signed 5 of our top 6 offensive starters. The guy IMO has done one hell of a job. If anymore of his moves that haven't proven themselves good or bad yet work for the good - it'll be oh #$$# he's one of the best GM's in the game. Vesey not a good decision? Again, what would you rather he did with the 3rd round pick?
  18. Well I guess if it's appropriate to critique Murray it's ok to critique your post. The Ryan trade was good enough to forget the rest if you don't like them. You don't mention the ones that possibly helped us be bad enough to ensure drafting Eichel and stocked us with all those draft picks that you said Murray has used well. We'll see about the Kulikov for Pysyk trade but we'll have to see how Asplund develops too. Signing a few guys? Okposo doesn't excite you? What player do you wish Murray would have drafted instead of trading it for Vesey's rights?
  19. Thanks for the information. I honestly and probably obviously did not know that.
  20. Fair to whom? NSH spent a draft pick on him and don't get a player. The easy thing is if you want to dictate your personal development and go back to college hockey that's fine - but if you want to join the NHL you go to the team that drafted you. Otherwise you'd have to create a compensation chart for the original drafting team if they can re-enter the draft.
  21. I would think this loop hole gets changed the next time labor talks come up (I believe 2021). I'd have to think if a team drafts a player he'd eventually have to play for that team.
  22. Watching Jon Dorenbos on America's Got Talent has been pretty cool. Guy is a seriously talented magician and has a touching life story.
  23. To me it would seem that he should have taken the one year deal - prove himself - then had the opportunity to seek more in free agency and making it less likely to get traded. To me Buffalo would try - now - to sign him to a deal that is trade-able and that works against him. I think he made a fundamental mistake here in hopes of getting a few hundred thousand more per. I do realize that 600K or so over 2 years isn't something to take lightly but I have to think he believes he can prove himself worthy of much more (Foligno type money). The rejection of the one year deal doesn't seem to help him get there. I don't get where he's coming from - unless he'd be serious about leaving the NHL.
  24. I love the optimism for sure. I'm not sure we're going to be one of the best offensive teams ... next year.
