One of the things Jack does as good as any player I've seen, is handle the puck with his head up. It's a gift.

It's that he's not what his numbers have said about him. We've had massive issues on defense and after the first handful of reasons - then you can look at Risto. Is he perfect? No, but he's a good player. He's tied for the 41st highest paid defenseman and at this point - is tremendous value. Defense, IMO, is the hardest position after goaltender to hide not having a good game. His issues get way over blown, IMO.

Shootouts are nerve wracking. If I were to pick a player I'd want to score the game winner, it would be Mitts.

We are so dumb sometimes

When you have opportunities to close out a good team - it's critical that you do it. It's something we have to not just learn but expect if we want to be the good team you try to close out.

I'd argue effort was never the biggest issue. We've been a young team or at least our best players are that did not know how to play NHL hockey. Bylsma came from Pittsburgh where they were full of seasoned vet's and Housley wasn't ready to be a head coach and certainly not of a young team. We have a teacher and it appears to be exactly what we needed.

I never saw a whole lot of relevance even though it was a little funny at the time. Hockey players train to develop specific strengths and a pull up doesn't really translate to anything a hockey player would do. My guess is he would truck most of us on the ice.
