  1. Hockey players are a different breed of athletes. Do you guys/gals think Moulson feels funny about being a financial liability to the team?
  2. Oh didn't realize that part. Thanks
  3. I like this move. This is the start of interjecting young talent into the lineup. Hopefully this will be the start of a few draft picks finally contributing. Zack Redmond called up too. Sometimes a change or two can make an impact. Possibly JBot and Housley see this as a "feeling out" type of year.
  4. To me this is a ridiculous post and a lack of effort or maturity on your part. The team played hard last night. They make a few critical errors each game and it has cost them games. They've gotten beaten bad in 2 games but they've been right there in the rest and those errors cost them.
  5. Both his cap hit vs salary and production vs salary have already been answered above. They aren't giving away a prospect to unload $2 mil in salary.
  6. Does Sam's pending free agency play into this? I think it's less about Sam vs what we have or what's coming. Talks like this has to be about do we want to pay him 5+ mil/year. I think they'd be happy to on a bridge deal but does Sam settle for that?
  7. The use of "Their" is definitely Carolina, haha. All that "we" talk sure didn't sound like a Sabres fan.
  8. Pouliot and Griffith are not NHL players. Griffith was pretty awful. I'm amazed at how many times Sam gets completely knocked off his skates.
  9. Our 3 on 3 defense is like being on a power play for the opponent.
  10. I'm hoping they find a way to come together being away.
  11. I thought Jeremy White made an excellent point this morning when he asked "what pieces have the Sabres added since drafting Eichel"? He then said Okposo and...? To me that's the issue and why it's going to be a bit longer. It's critical at least two of the young prospects become excellent NHL players. Then your young players are good enough to move O'reilly and Okposo types to the 3rd line. - They're good players and can be effective against those defenders.
  12. There's a lot that has to be figured out and that applies to our young star. I know we want him to just take over and overcome everything happening around him but it's going to take a little time. Heck we're switching lines after 3 games - so it's a bit of a reset that's going to take additional time. I feel like Jack and this team will look much different after a Month of playing and practicing together. I notice Jack being a bit more physical at times, not all the time, but I've seen him mixing it up down low. He's getting double teamed on the PP and making smart passes that's opened up the whole other side of the ice. We just haven't done much with it.
  13. Can't wait to have him and Eichel on the same team for at least 3-5 years.
  14. We have a superstar to protect. I like the move.
  15. Wegmans is getting closer and closer to Charlotte.
  16. They'd get a prospect and trade Kane for more of them/picks at the deadline. Meanwhile back-filling the offensive void Duchene would leave for 3/4 of the season.
  17. Congratulations on your freedom. We have a star in Buffalo that's converted hope into reality.
  18. I'm with you here. I just can't find a reason we'd go 6-7 - it's not good business. I'd offer him a 1 year extension now for 2018 at 5.75 and give him a no trade clause. This gives me a chance to see if he works his way into the nucleus - if not my youngsters are closer. It gives him some stability and an opportunity at 28 to earn another contract either with us or another team in 2019.
  19. My fault, I see where you changed your thought on easily getting $7M after your list post.
  20. If we offered him 6M, I think he'd sign right now. I don't think we're going even that high. I think Kane could be in a real corner where the only big money he gets offered is by really bad or aging teams and he'll be faced with having to suck throughout his 20's. If he scores 30 with 15 assists I don't think he's getting paid what you think.
  21. You could be right but I just don't see a player that has had more goals than assists 5 of his 8 years easily getting 7 mil - and needing that many shots to get the goals. I like Kane and I'd prefer to sign him but he's not worth 7 mil to me. He's got some intangibles and I like them but those lack of assists jump off the page to me. I just don't think I can pay that for 20 and 15 then 28 and 15 or I'd have to be 100% sure it's a line mate issue.
  22. I don't think he would get $7m in the open market unless it's a team completely desperate for scoring. If such a team could be identified he has to know he's going to a very bad team and that might just bring him back. I don't think a healthy organization gives him that kind of money.
  23. I'm not doing anything drastic for the now as it relates to giving up assets. Everything I want this team to do is for Eichel in his prime. We did enough for the now with Pominvile and bringing in some defensive help, etc. I want and think we can make the playoffs but I'm more interested in being cup contenders when Eichel is 23-30. I'm not giving up any young prospects that we don't know what they'll be yet. I want them in our organization when we find that out.
  24. What did I misunderstand? You said - "he will pout and you'll have to trade him fast or that locker room will fall apart totally." Now you said " he won't pull the room apart ". I don't think I have a comprehension issue. I can tell you know hockey but you put a lot of guess work in too.
  25. Kane doesn't have the ability to cause the room to fall apart. He may alienate himself and get his rear end chewed out but he couldn't tear the team apart.
