  1. JBot getting pissed in February said everything to me. He knew this team needed new leadership and he is making changes. I like it. What an absolutely awful team to watch last year. Slow and not competing is unacceptable. Starting over is the right decision especially when our best player is not even 22. The future looks so bright I'm really surprised at some of the veteran posters on here.
  2. For the first time in several years I feel like we're moving in a positive direction. I'm glad Lehner, Kane and ROR are no longer voices being heard in our locker room. We're loaded with prospects and brought in some NHL players to help the young stars take over. They're from successful organizations and I think they'll help.
  3. Kane and ROR are very good proven NHL producers but they're not leaders that young good players can learn from. On teams where they won't be expected to be leaders and just produce - they'll do fine in that role. We needed them to lead and play well and they failed to lead - they likely had negative effects. Obviously we knew Kane wasn't a leader but I think most of us expected ROR to be one. Lehner, IMO, was a head case and I'm glad he's gone. Maybe JBot knows Sheary and these new vets can bring a different attitude while this team builds it's lineup through it's very young prospects. We're going to be very good folks - it's just going to take time. While we wait it's important the young guys develop leadership skills while playing with vets that know how to play the right way. Fresh team, new attitude, a ton of viable prospects, 3 -1st round picks and I'm happy where we're headed. I hated our team the last two years - I hated it. I didn't want to build upon it - I wanted a totally different roster and we're getting it.
  4. I just don't think he should do a ton more. We're in a complete rebuild and the young players we're relying on besides Eichel aren't ready to be built around. Right now we just have no idea what we have in the B prospects group. I guess I just don't know what I would expect JBot to do - we don't know what we need, yet or I should say we know what we need we just don't know what will be solved by young talent. The needs are too many to satisfy in free agency - so I'd rather the vision be more clear.
  5. Thank you for the correction guys. I saw 3/$12 mil in a couple different places. My apologies Sakman.
  6. Thank you. My original thought was it's important to note - because I think ROR even at 27 is outside of the "core" age range. Therefore I find it hard to believe they'd be interested in a 29 year old of significant expense. While you were still trying to say 27 and 29 is the same you made an interesting point. "A 27 and a 29 year old are in the same competitive window". ROR doesn't have anyone in that window with him and I think it's the only reason to trade him. He's a really good player but we just don't have a flow to our age chart.
  7. You said ROR and JVR are the same age. That's not true.
  8. I guess you haven't been hearing the reports that it's Hutton for 3 years $12 mil
  9. ROR turned 27 in February. It's not that close in terms of saying they're the same age.
  10. ROR is the same age as who? Wasn't sure who you meant because he's 27 and JVR is 29.
  11. This is exactly what I think. It's a difficult thing to admit - that next season we're not going to be very good (again). I like ROR but I don't think I'm going to like the ROR in 3 years when we're ready to be very good.
  12. Pardon me if your joking - but he seems to think something is going down soon

  14. As evidenced by your post a few below this - the reason you can say this with all seriousness, is because you know it won't.
  15. We're way further than 2-3 good players away from playoff contention - especially if you're swapping a good player (ROR) for another. Our differential was -80. We're 30% higher in negative differential then the best teams differential (+56). Obviously differential isn't everything but IMO we're years away from a playoff team. There's much to fix that must and will come from the many prospects we have coming. For me, the good news is, when we are a playoff team we should be in the cup conversation soon after. All the young talent should be ready relatively together in terms of time line - so I believe we'll catapult quickly in 2-3 years.
  16. I hope Cal Peterson regrets not coming here in the worst way.
  17. I'd flip the crap out of that tire to the right of the one Risto is lifting. rasmrist@evander9kane dump it to my corner everytime then
  18. With respect I think you're way too focused on being good this coming season. I understand the want of course but I don't think it's realistic. We aren't going to be good next season. There's absolutely no question we are rebuilding. It's simple for me - either ROR brings me young opportunities to entice me or I keep him.
  19. I agree. Girgensons doesn't produce but he doesn't give you bad minutes.
  20. ROR and I don't see how it's close. He has more on ice and trade value. I could see a scenario that in 3 years Reino could be the better asset if ROR slows down and Reino gets much better.
  21. It's a risk for sure but it's one I'm willing to take. I like O'Reilly and I respect the multiple things he does for us. I also recognize he isn't a leader and that we don't have anyone on the team his age to be a leader so it will come from the young players. That takes time and I don't think I'm going to like a 30 year old slower ROR with reduced minutes and reduced points (40-50), 3rd line center, with no leadership skills at 7.5 Mil - when my youngsters are ready to take the team over. I don't think the Sabres are turned around with Dahlin and Mittelstadt - they are turning around. We're not good and losing ROR makes us worse today for sure. I just don't think ROR does enough for me while I'm not good and I'd rather have futures.
  22. This is precisely the type of trade I'm looking for.
