  1. Yep, other than losses, one thing this Sabres team leads the league in is fewest penalty minutes. ”But, doesn’t that just mean they’re disciplined?”
  2. I’m not watching the game. So, it sounds like the Sabres ARE NOT dominating despite the advantage on shots right now?
  3. Oh, really? I hadn’t heard that. I thought it was part of the “end up with the worst goalie so we don’t win”.
  4. Smith is having a good season but, at his age, maybe on a 1 year contract.
  5. Since there’s not a definite #1 player in the upcoming draft, I’ll take every win.
  6. My condolences. I had a tuxedo cat that acted like a dog. He unfortunately developed cancer around an eye and the vet said he was probably in a lot of pain. Still it was tough.
  7. I’ll never forget when the Sabres put 18 year old Marty Biron in. An opposing player fired a shot, which hit the back of the net, and then Marty’s glove hand came up. He was definitely not ready but it didn’t ruin him.
  8. Wouldn’t this offseason be a good opportunity for a trade? I don’t want to see it, but teams have to prepare for the expansion draft. They may be more willing to give up players in trade to get something in return, rather than losing them in the expansion draft for nothing. From the Sabres standpoint, doesn’t this youth movement also put them in better position for the expansion draft? They can expose guys like Okposo and Hutton, while not needing to do anything regarding some of these youngsters, if I recall the rules correctly.
  9. “Gee, our old LaSalle ran great. Those were the daaaays!”
  10. How about this stat: Sabres have 21 goals scored by defensemen this season in 42 games. In the 14 games with Granato in charge (and Girardi added) they have 10 goals scored by defensemen. Talk about a change in philosophy. I like it.
  11. The NHL playoffs usually are determined by goaltending, defense and balance. My prediction is a Finals of Tampa Bay (Vasielevsky) and Colorado (Grubauer) with Tampa winning again.
  12. Unless you were in the room with Adams fielding offers, it’s hard for anyone to say he should’ve got more in return. That being said, why not wait until closer to the deadline to MAYBE getting a better offer? Again, though, we don’t know how it happened. If it was the only or best offer and Boston pushed for a decision or they were moving on, then Adams would’ve felt he had to agree.
  13. Lazar was leading the Sabres forwards in hits by a large margin. That’s been a team weakness other than him.
  14. Finances have been considered for the most part all year. The signing of Hall was an outlier. Did you hear Weekes on the NBC broadcast tearing into the organization for the weak scouting staff?
  15. Interesting that 4 hours later there is still no response. Eichel was a no-brainer so even the Sabres couldn’t screw that one up. I guess Reinhardt is a hit but in hindsight Draisital is a definite “impact player” they passed on. Jury still out on Dahlin, although he has looked very good since they dumped Ralph. Ullmark showing probably going to be a good starting goaltender. Oloffson as a 7th rounder can score on the PP on one-timers. It’s also too easy to say, if they drafted impact players, why are they the worst team in the league.
  16. I apologize. The results of this game are my fault. I picked Ullmark as one of my goalies in DFS today.
  17. Wait, their daughter most likely had tennis coaches. They could just hire one of them.
  18. It was interesting to hear the national (NBCS) comments during this game. They really like Bryson and thought the prior regime made a good pickup. They also showed clips of the difference between Dahlin last season vs now.
  19. That last loss would inspire some teams to make amends. This team doesn’t have it in them.
  20. Of course no one will believe me now, but I meant to post “the streak ends tonight!” Before the game started and forgot. There’s still 25 minutes left so I could still be wrong.
