  1. He should be pissed, played a great game and saved his team several times. That giveaway by Pommers that resulted in the goal is the epitome of the soft core that can't close.
  2. Exactly, he's not ready to be an everyday player right now anyway. He needs the extra work, the team wants him to focus on improving his skating too
  3. you just said we have one every year but trade him away, so that means we have one every year. Why would this team give up two pieces and possibly a pick, then sign a young kid to a big deal when he is not a proven commodity. This guy isnt the next superstar in the making.
  4. Guys like Foligno are infinitely more replaceable than ROR if he's as good as as everyone seems to think.
  5. some nights this song is all that needs to be played..... well Roy is gone now so....
  6. This guy is trade bait. He does not look like an NHL player, at least in this organeyezation
  7. exactly, you gotta earn your ice time and he hasn't, he still has a long way to go to be a full time top 6 forward. Needs to bulk up and work on his skating
  8. yea some people are willing to give up the farm for a kid who scored 18 goals once in 3 full seasons. He's going to want a big contract, didnt we learn our lesson on this already??
  9. You're kidding right? Ted Black isnt qualified?
  10. You can always buy a player out, but if it's done this summer I believe the cap hit is zero or significantly reduced.
  11. Does it matter? He's not elevating the guys around him. Look at Conacher (he's older), Galchenyuk, Yakupov, Huberdeau...... they play their way onto the top line. All are better skaters too. This defend Grigo at all costs is nonsense, the kid is learning the game but anyone saying he's playing awesome isnt watching the same game. He's not making a difference on the ice. He needs time but he's not there yet
  12. Other rookies, including Russians, are adjusting much faster. Part of his problem is he is not a burner for a skater. He's not slow but he doesn't have the speed to give himself a little extra time. He does seem to have some great hands though.
  13. I was one of them. You can only have so many sandpaper guys, at some point you need enough scoring balance to actually win games. Look at the teams that are successful over the long term. Most have a dynamic superstar or two, other do if by lots of depth scoring. The Sabres have neither, but superstars don't fall out of the sky and it's very difficult to get one. As a fanbase we are overly excited about Grigo, as we were with Kassian. Grigo hasnt played poorly but he is not looking like a superstar or #1 center in the making. Right now, I don't see any flashes of greatness, he simply looks like another average player.....but he's a rookie, very few stand out. Stamkos had a really rough start too. It should be interesting to see what the strategy is moving forward. From a FO point of view you have 29,27, and 30 up for contracts in another 1.5 years. If you are making a run that gives you two potential postseasons to get after it. Scotty Bowman and an all star coaching crew cant make drew stafford and company a contender. They need a few new horses.
  14. who or what piece should Darcy have picked up ?? This roster is significantly different since TP gave the green light. Darcy has put together some bad teams in the past, but the additions of Ott and Hodgson are a step in the right direction. Don't let your emotions shut your brain down.

  16. I havent noticed him on the ice, good or bad, in the first three games. I guess it really depends how they want to manage the roster. Is keeping him up worth losing a guy on waivers?
  17. when Myers has the puck lately, it's been an unnecessary possessive.....
  18. I agree, I haven't seen anything out of him good or bad. He seems to be on cruise control. Not costing us but def not showing any flashes either. Esp considering some other rookies are standing out on other teams.
  19. To me this has nothing to do with the atmosphere. These ads are shown at almost every arena league-wide and there are louder venues. In the playoffs while they still show these ads etc, the place gets louder. It has everything to do with it being a bigger arena filled with quiet people I typically sit in the lower bowl and NOT near "corporate types" if those even exist in Buffalo. Any fan in our section who stands up and is rowdy is told to sit down and/or get a complaint to security. It has everything to do with who is there.
  20. I agree with several others. PH is ten times better as a PbP man than an analyst.
  21. Hamilton is a really good PxP guy Have you seen what other teams, even Northern hockey markets are doing for the fans? The Sabres are really lacking.
  22. Ovi takes a million shots, he basically shoots any time he can so his % is lower. Stamkos was at 20%. But the point remains, can he keep it up or is he a flash in the pan. I'm concerned about a sophomore slump for Foligno, that and he refuses to do the jump.
