Not Samson. We are going to fight to keep him.

If a team is willing to give the Sabres a package like this right now with Jack still injured you grab it with both hands. Letting the "Eichel Disconnect" linger into next season will just make things worse. God forbid we get to the last few weeks before Jack's NMC kicks in. Rip the bandage off and move on.

You're right. I'm just thinking that Sam has been around longer than Jack and has seen more losing. He's burnt out, but he can still show up and play. And he saw what the young players can do. Maybe you can coax Sam to give it one more year and be the leader.

OT:Toronto Blue Jays to Play Games at Sahlen’s Field this Summer
PromoTheRobot replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Won't happen. They are taking a bath right now. Being able to have some fans in Buffalo lessens the sting. But they would never choose to play here over Toronto. That's why you gotta see it if you can. -
But you trade him at the deadline to a contender if that's his wish. At least we get something.

Many actually.

It's to gain Sam's trust. Get him to become the leader of the Sabres. If it doesn't work. He's free.

Sam, not Jack, is the guy you try to coax to stick around. Make him a promise. Give it till trade deadline. Give Granato and the kids a training camp. If the Sabres are still floundering, Sam can pick his spot.

KA is going to move Eichel quickly. Nothing to be gained if this lingers into training camp. Turn the page. It sounds like there is a market for Jack. The key is not getting hung up on no trade return being good enough. Grab the good deal. My old boss had a saying: "Pigs get fat. Hogs get slaughtered."

You have to acknowledge what an amazing turnaround we saw that last month or so. The Sabres went from a team that was ready to give up to one that fought back to win games multiple times. And done with a roster half made up of AHL players. It's not lost on me the kids outplayed Hall and Staal while they were here.
