  1. Mediocre, by definition, is a disparaging term. The 8th playoff seed Capitals were .610 pts%, or if you prefer the "DeLuca .500" yardstick, .537 wins/losses. That makes them, by definition, above average.
  2. Definition of mediocre: "of only moderate quality; not very good." Definition of average: "constituting the result obtained by adding together several quantities and then dividing this total by the number of quantities." Mediocre, by definition, is a disparaging term.
  3. Uhhhh, you have to beat the 8th place team to make the playoffs, not the 9th. Besting the .512 Islanders gets you 9TH PLACE. You have to be better than the .610 8TH PLACE Capitals to make the playoffs last year. #NotMediocre.
  4. Making the playoffs in the east you can't be mediocre. Not when you need to play .609 hockey to even get a sniff.
  5. Since when is a 100-points mediocre? This isn't the 21- team NHL where 16 teams got in.
  6. That's great. But NHLN isn't on YouTubeTV. I decided to go see the Red Sox tonight anyway. No better time to go when the Sox are dead last, eliminated from the playoffs and tickets are $7.
  7. The game is on MSG but not on ESPN+ so out of town fans can go pound sand.
  8. Here are the Cliff Notes for every hockey projection article you will read this year: Some bad teams made flashy signings. They will improve. The Sabres didn't have any flashy signings. They will still be bad. The end.
  9. Against. They are not finishing bottom 5. Let's make this easy on @Buffalonill. Bottom 5 he wins. Playoffs or top 5 non-playoffs* we win. Everything in between is a push. Sound fair? (To be clear: Top-5 non-playoff means one of the five best records by point% of teams not qualifying for the playoffs. Bottom 5 means one of the five worst point% in the league.)
  10. Is anyone watching on NHLN? Is it the same s##tshow there?
  11. Their parent company Audacy (aka Intercom) is in the verge of bankruptcy. Not surprised they would cut back on the engineering budget.
  12. Meanwhile WGR is broadcasting a non stop loop of the Sabredance. Ready to start the season aren't they.
  13. Oh you want SOUND with your picture???
  14. So is this being streamed on Sabres.com or is it NHLTV exclusive?
  15. Assuming he doesn't get shipped to Ukraine.
  16. You now what is a simple, economical solution to this? Hire a local west coast reporter to act as the in-arena analyst.
