Agreed and I think Phil calling them out for it... puts a bug in there ears that as professionals they need to do more and take ownership of their preparation, film, teamwork figuring out what works... As you said this is gonna take some adjustment. When I went back to school at 48 for radiology our director commented because most of us were on 2nd careers that when she gave us an assignment we’d research it overnite and come back with questions the next day. Usually her classes are made of younger people and she had to push them to just get the basic assignment started. We would get them done early like a work project. We already knew what the basics were. This team is young, they are still trying to figure out where to start let alone what questions to ask.

I hear you but I think a good coach figures out Sam’s buttons like Phil appeared to last night.

I think he is often too affable, and so is Jack sometimes...that comes with maturity and those two need to do some growing up.

Have you ever met a thirteen year old boy... that being said my leverage is his xbox... Bill Parcels was a master at getting into players heads... Babcock appears to be... So does the the hoodie who will remain nameless... Some of it maybe Phil finding the right players.

Interesting point on the chosen one... Jack is learning there is more to hockey than working on his game. Probably something Phil learned later, but a team needs a coach on the ice. You always see Sydney talking to his fellow teamates and discussing what is happening on the ice when he is on the bench or talking to the coaches... Saw Sam doing it last night with Phil... Honestly think Sam may surprise folks once he gets it down... I see him much more engaged the last few games.

Maybe not the vocal one the young players need... Wonder if there is guy out there that might be able to verbally lead... I think Housley is trying to teach them and see who step forward. Bogo maybe if he can get healthy.

He was positive in the end, but definitly sent a message that their prep was unaccceptable and that they would keep working on it.

He mentions film study... may have taken them a while to figure out what the Knights were doing on forecheck and it seemed like in the later first and second there were a lot of turnovers exiting the zone.. guessing that is what Housley was referring to studying film on the off days.Guess he has to teach these guys how to be professionals and it took them till third period to get it right...

Agreed, and I am greatful... he had two guys on the bye week.

I still think they are not use to as a team skating like that all game. The difference between a playoff off team and an also ran... They only have two lines working and not much else... they need skaters that have skill. There is a dearth of guys that have both on this team. I don't get the Kane hate... he hustles... yeh he doesn't pass like some of us want, but you can see he is working on it. He tried to pass a little more this game. The top two lines looked better... the D is still a work in progress. And as others have said, it still looks like they have trouble figuring out where to be especially the forwards getting back and playing D at times. Should be interesting to see this team as it develops and who gets called up as the team moves forward. That is called an ambush...

Maybe, but their early record indicates otherwise... They have some decent young D and a some young scorers and are playing hard. We will see what they look like by the end of the season but so far they have looked good and are on a hot streak.
