I have and others have said all that needs to be said about what this team needs... scorers yes... and a coach who can put guys in positions were they can succeed and limit there flaws. ? Do you design a system around players or do you design a system and look for players to fill those roles.? The second takes a long time and variability can ruin it. Or you build talent use it in best ways possible and when you have enough talent build your system? Again this is a young team with a newer nhl coach with a system idea and not enough of the right players for his system. It sucks, but I dont think Phil has enough experience yet to adjust on the fly. I can see him trying, but the talent isnt there. ?Can Sabres wait till he get both talent and experience... not sure.

Some of that is on goaltending... Vaselesky regularly bails out Tampa, and Toronto has similar problem with goaltending but TO has lots of guys who can score.

Sabres need to find some mojo toward the end of the year... still at this point I am fine with them experimenting and trying to figure out what the team may look like next year... with offseason moves and young guys coming up next year I am hopeful that they can take another step... I don't think they are that far off from being there with some key additions one on D, another center and young guys maturing and taking the next step... Dhalin, Mitts, TT, Nylander, Olloffson and maybe Asplund and top draft pick especially if Sabres get lucky and move up to top 2. I could see Pekar replacing Girgenson or Larrson on the fourth line in the next couple years as well... A lot of this will be about these young guys maturing physically and mentally on a daily compete level. Talent is slowly coming... frustrating it is taking this much time and I wonder if Phil has the stones to push them, but the talent is better than it has been.

Maybe if the Sabres won a few... but not after only one cup... If they were there regularly and won a few... yeh I have seen that in other cities, but Yankee fans only complain really when they don't win, when they do... they over analyze who should be play better and who they can buy off other teams that might make them better. Still point taken.. though in Buffalo if it was just the first one... doubt you would hear any complaints from Sabres fans.
