He's got absolutely nothing to gain by going back to a league that's too easy for him only to return and have to learn Ruff's difficult "system" later on. Let the kid stay, take his lumps, and find his game at this level. I'd like to see the kid and his linemates actually possess the puck as there just haven't been many opportunities the first three games. Last night, his turnover aside, he looked like he was playing better than his teammates who were flat and out of position most of the night, especially the D. If he didn't have the physical maturity to compete, I'd feel differently. But he does and he needs to develop at the NHL level. GO SABRES!!!

Myers needs to sit for a very long time. Weber, Brennan, whomever. He is a phucking 6' 8" liability on the ice. Hard to watch. GO SABRES!!! -

I just think it's gonna more resemble pre-season for a few more games. Fugly is too nice a word for this type of hockey. GO SABRES!!! -

^This. 'Nuff said. It took a young promising player to land another promising player at a position of greater need. Foligno has played more like what we wanted out of Kassian to this point anyway. Good luck to Zack in Vancouver. That's all I got to say about it. I just don't see the point in comparing them after every game. GO SABRES!!!

Landry was let go a couple months before the 1989 draft. By then, the team had been sold to Jerrah, Jimmy was hired, and they made Aikman their first pick ever. It's a good bet that Landry and Schramm would have taken Aikman anyway, though. GO SABRES!!!

Of course not. And he won't be. But as a rookie, especially for a young rookie playing in Ruff's system, he must show a commitment to the defensive zone and all that entails. Everyone knows he's gifted offensively and we should all be encouraged by his willingness to pay attention to his D-zone responsibilities. And with Leino and Ott as his wings, he's gonna flourish offensively against lesser talented third line opponents. Much like Roy, Vanek, and Afinogenov did back in '06. Unless he falls apart completely in the next three games, I think he's a lock to make the big club. GO SABRES!!!

Yep. Won't matter one bit without better players. There might be varying degrees of putting players position to succeed as well as the ability to motiviate players, but coaches can do little to make an untalented player more talented at the pro level. Our guys, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, are lacking in talent in several key areas. At least one or more players at each level of the defense, particularly LB and in the secondary. Indeed, I'd say we are only set at 3 DL positions, 1 CB, and 1 FS (if he stays). The rest are in need of serious upgrades and that's more than half the defense. That's not to say that we can't judge how well a coach is doing in making them play to their best capabilities, as limited as that is. Until we DO get better talent in more places, I'll have to be content with just hoping the other team knows it's been in a fight more often than not. GO BILLS!!!

One can be a disciplinarian without being a dick. Gregg Williams was the epitome of being a dick. I'm thinking Marrone will indeed meet with some resistance from some vets on the team. And, like Marv and Co. did when they took over, there will be a purging process a la Jones, Devlin, Smerlas, etc. I accept that as just part of jettisoning some ties to a losing culture and the need to establish his own agenda. While underwhelmed with the choice, I've got to see him in action before I can get a feel one way or the other. Will be watching his staff hires intently. Those will be his first chance to impress me. Then I'll need at least a full season to form a better opinion overall. GO BILLS!!!

People are going to be changing their tune after this season when Leino, like so many FAs in so many sports have done historically, rebounds from his pressure-filled first year with his new team and the stresses of adapting to a new environment and has a great year. Yes. That Ville Leino. GO SABRES!!!

Thanks for the link. Nice stuff. Why is it I cringe every time I hear the phrase, "when motivated?" GO SABRES!!!

This bodes well for an 18 year old now facing much older, physically mature players. If he becomes one of those players that's just hard to play against on a nightly basis, he's gonna help us for years to come. GO SABRES!!!

Thanks folks. One of the things I appreciate about this place. Ask a question and often times people care enough to answer it. And IIRC, the Katrina relief bill was just as crammed with pork. It may be unseemly, but that's how we have to do things sometimes in order to do the most good.

I'd like to know who the 67 Republicans were that saw fit to vote against even today's Sandy Relief package. This is some unprecedented behavior in how we have always acted in the face of natural disasters. They should be ashamed.
