  1. LOL. Perhaps I should have been more phonetically correct and said John Snow ain't COOM-in' anytime soon.
  2. I can only say that we must be watching completely different games then. He's been very responsible in his own end, not lazy at all. The only time it looked like he wasn't skating as much was in the first game vs. Norway and I think that was because he was put at LW for a big chunk of the game. The larger point though is this, that at 18 and the youngest guy on the team, he is more than holding his own against grown up professionals. He's the strongest guy on the puck most of the time. This USA squad shows a lot of pluck. For a team that hasn't had a ton of reps together, they seem to be figuring it out as they progress and they've all bought into busting their as well. Plus they are a fast group. Perhaps the fastest USA mens team I can recall. GO SABRES!!!
  3. Winter may be cumin, but Jon Snow ain't cumin.
  4. Good signing. He's versatile and Ryan can play him inside as part of the rotation, too. GO BILLS!!!
  5. Tough break for Seth Jones there. GO SABRES!!!
  6. One thing's for sure, after watching the first three games for the US in the IIHF tourney, Zemgus won't be running Eichel the first day of camp like he did Reinhart. Z might get hurt. GO SABRES!!!
  7. This is the case. He isn't loafing at all, just being measured out there and picking his spots, playing under control. When he kicks it into gear though, it's noticeable. GO SABRES!!!
  8. Agreed. Looking forward to it, too. And to return us to discussing Eichel, I've been very impressed with his ability to handle the big boys. Just worked his ass off for the puck against a bigger Russian D man, fought him off, skated behind the net and gave himself a decent chance at a wrap around. Everything we've heard of Eichel's strength is true. He's "man" strong already. Can't wait until he figures the game out. GO SABRES!!!
  9. Hard to believe he's 18 and that strong. He's been holding his own against grown-up pro players for three games now and doesn't look out of place in the least. He'll be the strongest winger we have the minute he joins the team. On a sidenote and only because I don't see a "McDavid" thread, has anyone been watching his OHL playoff games on NHLN? His scoring is one thing, but I don't think I've seen a guy think the game like him in a long time. Case in point, he was carrying the puck through the neutral zone, him against two SSM defensemen who were backing up. As he approached the blue line he threw the puck to an open space behind the Dmen. As soon as they turned to locate the puck, McDavid kicked it into another gear, went around the D man, and retrieved the puck for a chance to score. He essentially completed a 30 foot pass to himself, from the blue line to the right slot. Amazing. GO SABRES!!!
  10. Not in the traditional sense. Far from it. Suffice to say, he didn't have the kind of access and information enjoyed by and shared among scouts from either major cooperative as well as dedicated team scouts. GO BILLS!!!
  11. Dovetails nicely with lawmakers in Texas seeking to pass a law that makes it illegal to take video of police activities. There are certain states I've vowed never to step foot in again so it's looking like if i ever want to drive to California again, I'll have to go via Canada.
  12. Ennis with a goal and assist today. Oh, and if you had Germany plus 9 goals ... YOU LOSE!
  13. Dixon yes, Brown not even close. I don't know much about Karlos Williams but on the surface, he seems like a fit for Roman's running schemes. GO BILLS!!!
  14. I saw an interview with John Angelos, EVP of the Orioles, and I think he missed his calling. Very eloquent and dead-on in his assessment of not only what ails Baltimore, but every city in the US. He'd get my vote if he ever ran for office. My bottom line is this: until corporate "America" decides to put their patriotic dollar where their mouth is, nothing will change. All the flag waving commercials with Sam Elliot voice-overs won't make a difference.
  15. This is staggering.
  16. Larry Slipped A Mickey
  17. Don's On the Loose Filly Goyette Why Not Rozub This is the most fun thread in a while.
  18. I had them taking Eric Rowe instead, but Philly nabbed him a tad earlier. Nobody should be surprised given the history of this coaching staff's use of press corners that can run and Whaley's pre-draft statements regarding how the make-up of this team allows them to legitimately take their BPA at 50. So much for the Petty smoke screen. GO BILLS!!!
  19. Solid, if not spectacular debut against pro players for Jack Eichel. Was very responsible in his own zone which is what I looked for first. Seemed to grow in confidence as the game progressed and looked like he fit right in with the speed of the US team. Had him playing the half wall on the left side on power plays and looked like they were trying to set him up for the "Ovechkin" from the circle. He's got a major league shot already from what I saw. Was on the ice for a goal against, but no fault of his own as he played his position well on that shift. All in all, I'll take it as a good first step. GO SABRES!!!
  20. Nice. My vote for word du jour!
  21. Widgets. Edit: meant to link this article. http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-prison-industry-in-the-united-states-big-business-or-a-new-form-of-slavery/8289
  22. No pressure there, asking an 18 year old to be your #1 offensive threat in this tourney. Additionally, I noticed that Auston Matthews scored in their exhibition against Austria yesterday. That's a 17 and 18 year old expected to play major minutes against some of the best pro players in the world. I hope we're patient. EDIT: I just learned that Matthews was sent home after playing in yesterday's exhibition. Guess he made history by being the first player to play at that level before becoming draft eligible. I might be on board for another tank! GO SABRES!!!
  23. Given Pegula's comments about establishing generational ownership, comments made on more than one occasion, I seriously doubt there isn't a solid plan of succession in place. GO SABRES!!!
  24. You are hitting several resonant chords with me today. Might have something to do with all the teachers in my family, past and present. I am of the firm belief that a strong national defense, the responsibility for which is the US Government's and one of the most touted items in the Constitution by all sides of the political argument, begins first and foremost with a well educated and healthy populace. Anything less than that is just paying lip service to the issue. I can go on for hours about how Koch brother policies are detrimental, but I can't do that with Soros, who's motivation for getting politically involved on the scale that he is, was to oust George Bush and Co. whom he thought were a very real danger to the very foundation we were built upon. Given the rhetoric of several like Cheney and Ashcroft, for instance, I can see why. The right wasted no time in demonizing Soros as a result. Which is ironic given Soros' history.
  25. Is it your contention that George Soros' involvement in politics in general and in purchasing elections nationwide in particular, is on par with that of the Koch brothers?
