How dare you presume I care about this team! GO SABRES!!!
-
Can the stat line on the NHL.com site be correct? We blocked 42 shots? Added to the 39 shots on goal and counting however directed shots went wide, did we possess the puck AT ALL tonight? How did we score 3 goals? We need a coach that can teach and coach puck possession and a dominant centerman that can maintain it. Gee, if only I knew where we might get one of those. GO SABRES!!!

Well, since we don't have the guts to match Arizona in the strategy department, I'm praying we or they win the lottery. At least that will still ensure one of the top two picks if we finish 29th. GO SABRES!!!

Because his mom was a natural US citizen and his dad a US resident both working in Canada at the time of his birth, Cruz is also a natural US citizen, regardless. He is eligible.

AZ in it to win it. It's a strategy that their franchise will reap the benefits of for a generation. Too bad we don't have the same level of commitment to getting better. GO SABRES!!!

They aren't in it for the short term. The result, in the short term, was never gonna be anything different, regardless who was available in the draft. I can't believe anyone is surprised. The idea is to build a sustainable and perennial cup-contending team, which I think Murray's moves are indicative of so far. He's got assets to parlay, cap room to attract a marquis FA or two, and some talented prospects currently getting NHL seasoning. If you believe that the team focus would be so narrow as to leave their plan in the hands of things out of their control just to get one player, so be it. McDeichel is just ONE piece. The KEY piece, yes. But one piece just the same. Murray's task will still be the same even if we are fortunate enough to land one of McDeichel. GO SABRES!!!

RG3 is too frail for the NFL. I can't recall anyone else EVER dislocating his ankle just by running and cutting. His joints and ligaments were meant for some other kind of athletic pursuit. He's an injury waiting to happen as his history suggests. Pass on RG3. GO BILLS!!!

Hindsight being what it is, this is hard to argue. But it's not an easy decision to tear down a playoff/cusp of playoff team when the idea of adding a couple key players to the mix might get you over the top. I'm trying to look at this as the Sabres' inaugural expansion team and we are gonna spin the wheel for a chance at our next Gilbert. GO SABRES!!! All the player moves and prospect acquisitions the past two seasons don't support the idea of such a narrow focus by Murray. Not in the least. It is no surprise to me that this roster would be expansion bad while prospects developed and other new pieces were added. There is organizational narrow focus and then there's fan narrow focus, which is what your last sentence reflects. GO SABRES!!!

Of course not and TM would be derelict in his duties if he thought that way. We fans, on the other hand, have the luxury of such narrow focus. And why not? Most of us know there are good players to be had outside of McDeichel, but none of them are close to being as good. And it would have been a shame to suck this much for this long and NOT get the best prize as a reward for that suffering. GO SABRES!!! Grigo was put in an untenable position. I tend to think the rumors of veterans on the team resenting his arrival and automatic roster spot are true. That resentment is another indicator of just how short that former core was in the hockey character department. GO SABRES!!!

DR was in a psychological quandary as he had to destroy that which he gave birth to. Denial is a bitch. GO SABRES!!!

People seem to be conflating the goals here. The team goal is to rebuild with the best players they can get in trades, free agency and the draft, regardless of the draft position, and they will. Obviously, they would prefer to have the top pick, but there is too much out of their control to ensure that outcome. The fan goal is to get the generational player to be your linchpin for the next 15 years. The next Bert or Patty. And Marner et al, just don't cut it in that regard. GO SABRES!!!
-
I think it's safe to say that for the majority of fans, it's been about one player. The organization is gonna accept their draft position, regardless. And we will no doubt land a good prospect. But there is only one McDeichel. So let's not pretend otherwise. GO SABRES!!!

Easy for you to say, Goose.

You have captured Nolan in a nutshell. GO SABRES!!!

Well, I know the reason is for me not being a coach, but I just can't figure out why Nolan isn't a coach. GO SABRES!!!

There's a fine line between laying down and doing the strategically right thing for the franchise in both the short and long term. Finishing to ensure a shot at one of the top two players is nothing to be ashamed of if it helps your team. Amassing meaningless points in meaningless games with a team half full of players that don't figure in your long term plans does when it's not in your best interest is just strategically stupid. I have yet to see a compelling argument to the contrary. GO SABRES!!!

Looks like BU hasn't played in a week. Really flat compared to other times I've watched this year. GO SABRES!!!

Isn't there some sort of topical cream for that?

As long as Linback maintains his compete level, it's all good. GO SABRES!!!

Yep. Then trade Zadorov and Grigs to CO for ROR. GO SABRES!!!

God, that was one FUGLY period of hockey, assuming you can call that hockey. GO SABRES!!!

No time to take chances with your best player. Sit Ennis the rest of the year just to be on the safe side. GO SABRES!!!

The couple times I've seen him he's been impressive. Great wheels. And a decent prospect. But the reason he's not talked about more, is because of who occupies the top of the draft class. As good as he is, he is simply not in the same class. His lack of physical stature has little to do with it. GO SABRES!!!
