  1. I know we're only a period into his career here, but I'm willing to declare that Bogo is already a far better D man than Myers has ever been up to this point. GO SABRES!!!
  2. Nifty play by Ennis there. GO SABRES!!!
  3. Agreed. McDeichel is simply a better prospect than Tavares was coming out. Indeed, they are both better prospects than anyone since Crosby came out. GO SABRES!!!
  4. This is funny, but I don't think it's real. On the off chance that it is, it says a helluva lot more about Byfuglien than it does about Kane. GO SABRES!!!
  5. Yes, he'll be an immediate contributor. I just hope we temper expectations. Anyone expecting McDeichel to step right in and post HOF numbers in his rookie season just isn't dealing in reality. I'll just be happy knowing we finally have a cornerstone worth building around; a true bonafide difference maker on the ice. GO SABRES!!!
  6. Thanks for the link. Enjoyed the article as well as a couple of the adjacent articles. Apparently, five teams were in the bidding for Kane, including the Canucks, who didn't want to give up the asking price. Kane has some growing up to do, but I get the impression he'll work his ass off on and off the ice to get where he wants to go. I'd be far more worried if he didn't have that drive vs. his immaturity in other areas. He's got "hockey character" already. Let's hope the rest of him arrives with a little growing up as the adjacent article about Patrick Kane alludes to. GO SABRES!!!
  7. I'm not ignoring it so much as dismissing it entirely. GO SABRES!!!
  8. I'm not sure that's possible. Feel free to say Kane should be whatever you feel he should be. But don't make this harder on the rest of us by suggesting that the mere number of bodies involved is what determines the value of the trade and not what those bodies end up being in the league or not. I leave you in peace. GO SABRES!!!
  9. But you attach that condition to Kane because we gave up those three prospects in the deal so how can you separate their development from the equation? I guess I'm having trouble understanding how you can say we gave up too much therefore Kane better be a top 3 while at the same time saying how they turn out doesn't matter; that the risk to Winnipeg in that regard somehow doesn't matter. The simple fact is you can't say we gave up too much until we know how those prospects shake out. Unless, as I asked earlier, you think that Kane/Bogosian for Myers/Stafford is somehow giving up too much on its own. GO SABRES!!!
  10. That's precisely the point. Because if they don't turn out, then it will prove that the Jets assumed the most risk. Or are you gonna suggest that Kane/Bogosian straight up for Myers/Stafford is somehow an even trade even if Stafford re-signs with Winnipeg? GO SABRES!!!
  11. I will be glad when this clusterphuck of a thread is history. It's literally painful to read most of the time. GO SABRES!!!
  12. A "bi-polar who won't work?" What aspect of attempting to play through a broken bone in his foot, another broken bone in his hand, all the while never knowing when his shoulder was gonna pop out of joint due to the labrum tear, suggests someone who won't work? You are confusing lack of maturity with lack of work ethic. Your characterization of him being bi-polar is simply ridiculous. GO SABRES!!!
  13. Again, 3 of those "parts" aren't even in the league yet. If they don't pan out as top 6 players, and odds are they won't, then all Kane has to do is maintain his top 6 ability. Not to say anything of Bogosian's unquestioned status as a top 4 D man. As X pointed out previously, Winnipeg bore the brunt of the risk in the trade. GO SABRES!!!
  14. If none of the prospects turns into a top 6, it most certainly is negated. GO SABRES!!!
  15. Perspective is a wonderful thing. GO SABRES!!!
  16. Absolutely. If they don't re-sign Stafford and none of the prospects pan out as top 6 players (and the odds are they won't), then 4/5 of what Winnipeg got back for Kane and Bogosian is worthless. In the meantime, Buffalo gets a plug-in D man with a better defensive game and a sure-fire top 6 forward if Kane comes back healthy. It's easy to see why Winnipeg demanded what they did because they assumed the most risk. GO SABRES!!!
  17. It will be interesting to see if Lemieux plays the same kind of hardball with the Jets when it comes to his contract negotiations. I'm not convinced everyone thinks he deserves to be paid like the first round pick he thinks he is. GO SABRES!!!
  18. Based on what criteria? The KNOWN quantitative assessments of the NHL players involved? Hardly. Kane is the best player in the trade and Bogosian and Myers are, at WORST, a wash, even though I give Bogosian the big edge in playing D. Advantage: Buffalo Based on the UNKNOWN quantitative assessments of Armia and Lemieux? I don't see how it's even possible to venture a guess about those prospects given that collectively they've had a cup of coffee in the bigs. Advantage: push. Based on the lowest #1 draft pick in the upcoming draft? A player not even identified at this point? It will be several years before ANY of the prospects can even begin to factor in the equation. GO SABRES!!!
  19. If that's true, I'm glad we're rid of the little ingrate. GO SABRES!!!
  20. You need to check that cupboard. It's far from empty. GO SABRES!!!
  21. ^This. As far as Armia, Lemiuex (sp?), and the late 1st go, we won't know anything about their value in this trade for a while yet. As far as the known quantities, we got the best player in this trade, and another that brings a more consistent defensive game to the mix. In terms of pure CURRENT and PROVEN NHL talent, Murray got the better end of the deal. Don't see how anyone can disagree with that aspect of the deal. GO SABRES!!!
  22. You're thinking of Wayne Cashman and yes, that would be fun to see. I remember listening to it on the radio. GO SABRES!!!
  23. Loved the 2nd episode. This promises to be a fun ride with Gilligan and Co; just great story telling on a completely different level. When it's all said and done, I predict that 'Better Call Saul' will be in the top three all time and Gilligan will have been the creator of two of them.
  24. Watched the first episode last night and am recording the second. I'm already hooked. The opening scene of Saul sitting down to watch VHS tapes of his old TV commercials was all I needed. The future is in black and white and the past is in color? nobody does dry openings better than Gilligan. The same 'Breaking Bad' team of writers, producers, directors, etc. that can now complete each other's sentences, promises to be even better than before. I can't recall the last time a spin-off series garnered such high praise from critics. But after last night, I can see why. It has the chops to stand alone.
  25. Always thought we were at a disadvantage with that small ice. Imagine Bert with more room? GO SABRES!!!
