  1. Penguins have been on a 27 minute power play. GO SABRES!!!
  2. I can live with it. GO SABRES!!! I get that, too. GO SABRES!!! I don't disagree with this, either. GO SABRES!!!
  3. Review all the case law since that clause has been challenged and you will see that the SCOTUS disagrees.
  4. That's no excuse for others and perhaps some of these guys are grasping at that crutch. Kane's lack of hockey awareness cost us three scoring chances. At least. Jack's floating and otherwise lackadaisical play prevents him from being the force he needs to be. ESPECIALLY in the absence of our best player. Samson doesn't look comfortable at the center position. These are impressions based on a season's worth of observations to date. I don't think I'd classify them as conclusions set in concrete; I understand it's a work in progress. But I don't care that they are young and still learning the league, either. I appreciate that some lessons are harder than others, but I get the sense that DD coddles these guys too much. Mostly, I'm must frustrated with today's game, though. GO SABRES!!!
  5. I'm done discussing the supremacy clause. Research it. What is it called when a state does not follow federal statutes?
  6. The word outclassed comes to mind. Just not ready for prime time. For as hard as he plays the game, Kane has absolutely no feel for it at all. ZERO hockey sense. Bag skate Eichel at his next practice. It is imperative that he is visible, EVERY shift. Lazy Jack showed up today. Samson is not a center in this league at present. GO SABRES!!!
  7. You consistently make references to the federal government arbitrarily deciding to punish states by withholding funds, etc. They are punishing states not in compliance with federal statutes which is why I cited the supremacy clause in the first place. Hope that clears it up.
  8. I will go so far to say that if he stays healthy, he is a lock to surpass Howe. His dedication and discipline when it comes to nutrition, training, etc., is amazing. Admirable, really. GO SABRES!!!
  9. This is where you lose me on your argument. If "certain conditions" means that states have to adhere to the law in order to qualify for federal funding (not a new concept at all, btw), then yeah, I guess certain conditions apply. In the meantime, I'd call it staying eligible by complying with federal statutes.
  10. I'm thinking of Sweden, myself. Panny cakes and Frank Serpico always spoke highly of it. I could thrive in the land of lingonberry.
  11. Love the idea of Bailey skating with Kane and Reinhart. Samson may like mirror images on either side of him. Great opportunity for the young guys to step up in an adversarial moment. I choose to make lemonaide. GO SABRES!!!
  12. Does it matter? Like the Bills are to Brady, the Sabres are Crosby's . High time we stop that, too. That said, I would prefer Larsson's line to face him as often as possible. I like what Girgs brings to Jack's table and don't think we should break that up. I can see Bylsma mixing itmup though. Heck, if Eichel can maintain his newfound commitment to the D end, I wouldn't mind seeing him force Crosby to play some D, too. GO SABRES!!!
  13. Other than being our best all around five on five player and a key cog on the PP and PK, he won't be missed at all. Good point on the heavy lifting now shifting more to our young stars. It's a lot to put on such young players, but it can be a great opportunity. GO SABRES!!!
  14. No idea. I guess that would remove any question, though. Nice to catch a tired backup goalie on the second of back to back games. GO SABRES!!!
  15. Fleury was out with an illness. Questionable for today. GO SABRES!!!
  16. The play by play guy would never get a word in edgewise, but I bet he'd offer some interesting insights. GO SABRES!!!
  17. Good example and an interesting one as well. The supremacy clause requires that all states adhere to federal law, period. States that don't ARE in violation of the Constitution by definition. The ACA is the established law of the land and states are required to comply as per the supremacy clause. Before the Supreme Court ruled on the merits of the medicaid expansion, those states deciding not to expand were in violation of federal law and were subject to have federal funding cut as a result. It's a testament to our system that the states have redress in the federal courts as well.
  18. I'd be interested in some examples, especially the part about waiting until you need it most and have no choice but to take it. As to the larger point, the supremacy clause is pretty clear and has been since it was first tested over 200 years ago.
  19. Goal calls are just icing whether they are spontaneous or not. Dunleavey can't bake the cake in the first place. GO SABRES!!!
  20. The most important skill a play by play announcer needs, is the ability to keep up with the play. Radio or TV, Dunleavey fails miserably at this; always a second or two lag time between the action and his description and he frequently confuses himself as well as his audience. He is a dial-up connection in the age of broadband. Perhaps the worst PbP guy I have ever heard. GO SABRES!!!
  21. Lehner should play without a mask. GO SABRES!!!
  22. He's a hockey player. They lose teeth and don't miss a shift. I am convinced hockey players, especially muckers like Foligno, are worried schitleess that they will lose their jobs to newbies trying to impress. GO SABRES!!!
  23. I am laughing because I had the same type of Month Python thought. We must have gone to different schools together. My only point, whether we agreed or disagreed on anything (and I can't remember, either), was that the league applied a much harsher standard of punishment because it was a ref. And the concussion issue only arose because it was a ref. Phuckin' refs! GO SABRES!!!
  24. So, people wouldn't politicize GOING to the funeral, only that he is NOT going to it. Got it. I look forward to the list of names attending and not attending. Hacks on both ends of the spectrum will have a field day, regardless.
  25. You misinterpret my meaning and place it out of context by not including my full post. Would ANYONE even be mentioning the possibility of Wideman being concussed moments before he made the hit if he made the hit on an opposing player? Yes or no? His actions afterward support that NOBODY would have paid attention to it, because it was totally ordinary behavior and a concussion wouldn't be needed to explain the egregious nature. Makes me wonder how many untold players have taken hits by players concussed shortly before they were hit. ESPECIALLY when the concussed player didn't exhibit symptoms and didn't miss a shift thereafter. GO SABRES!!!
