Wait, are you talking about the possibility of the republican leadership that just spent the better part of a year condemning Trump at every opportunity would all of a sudden turn the other cheek and support him? Are you talking about republican leadership putting their principles on the back burner in the name of political expediency? The republican leadership would never do any such thing.

Look, it's a another nit! GO SABRES!!!

Something tells me Murray doesn't give a phuck about trading the pick, regardless where the draft is held. And rightfully so. GO SABRES!!!
-
Not nonsense at all. I gave the Penguins all the credit in the world. But from the Caps' perspective, this is an epic failure. Perhaps you need an explanation of the phrase, "Taking nothing away from the Penguins." GO SABRES!!!
-
I think Murray may end up trading the pick for a top pair D man. GO SABRES!!!
-
Taking nothing away from the Penguins who were the best team in the league entering the playoffs, but this is an EPIC failure by the Caps after the season they had. Nothing short of an appearance in the finals was going to be acceptable. Sad night in DC. GO SABRES!!!

Could you imagine? Teams wouldn't have to bother icing the puck from their own zone. Just flip it over the glass, get a line change, good to go. GO SABRES!!!
-
Agree. They took all the guess work out of the call, regardless of intent. The puck either goes over the glass cleanly or it doesn't. I don't see how it's still arbitrary at all. GO SABRES!!! That's a whole different discussion. All calls could be tipping points in series, depending. GO SABRES!!!

I'd say Nixon and Ford. After them, the party was co-opted by the Moral Majority and, even if republican candidates didn't live their religion, they had to make it a point to appear as devoted Christians on the trail.

Thank-you, sir. GO SABRES!!!

Speaking of Vesey, any word on Caggiula? GO SABRES!!!

Why do I get the impression Jack will be served by the snub? GO SABRES!!!

I would have told him he earned the D for free. But I keep reading how stupid our students are, how unprepared they are for secondary educations. But they are all getting As? Who knew? the D for free.

Nonetheless, it's the teachers who have been demonized by these very same "policy makers" over those years. The rhetoric is shrouded in all sorts of platitudes about "the children", but it's empty and their policies have done much more harm to the students. Parental involvement will always be the key, but it isn't always practical, especially in inner-city, single parent households. And it's no coincidence that this demographic has been especially targeted by the special interests who seek to privatize our schools.

Perhaps I should have just said "big money" investments in school board races across the country vs. simply millionaire developers. Regardless, attempts to influence school board decisions is prevalent and part of a systematic attempt to reroute huge public education tax dollars to private individuals. It's big business to say the least. Here's one of many articles from over the years. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/answer-sheet/wp/2014/10/09/why-are-tfa-and-a-california-billionaire-investing-in-minnesota-school-board-race/

Ask yourself who Phil answers to on that board. The educational goals that Common Core "espouses" have always been valued and pursued. Teachers have always expected much out of their students. This idea that they don't is part and parcel to the requirement by "reformers" to demonize their unions, the destruction of which is the most important element in moving towards privatization and the money grab it represents. Your last sentence is key. That used to be the case, with the exception of teaching tax prep. Now it's all about STEM, which is a crock. But, it helps to point the fingers at teachers (again, a critical part of the strategy), and open the doors for privatization.
-
You are under the illusion that the teacher's unions are actually a strong player in the education lobby. They aren't. They have been systematically excluded from policy making decisions for a while now, especially at the federal and state levels. The education lobby I'm referring to, is that which advocates Common Core, standardized testing, privatization, and the move to charter schools. All of which is designed to reallocate education dollars. It's why rich land developers seek positions on local school boards across the country the last several years.

Didn't Murray say he wants "a quarterback" for a defenseman during his season-ending presser? I think he prefers a Karlsson. Who doesn't? GO SABRES!!!
-
Makes a ton of sense. Makes the most sense. But our reps have sold out to the education lobby pushing STEM, charter schools, and privatization. We used to have a model vocational school system in this country, too.
-
So, it isn't because you have it so bad, it's because the other guy has it so good. Got it.

Legwand, too. He did more talking on the bench than our coaches. He was always teaching somebody something, it seemed. I hope he comes back for one more year. GO SABRES!!!
