I actually heard it's either a third if they win two rounds and he plays 50% or a fourth if both conditions are not met
-
The only benefit to Horton's LTIR happens if you spend all the way to cap. It should be at least three years till the Sabres get there so the benefit to Buffalo is not near to where it is for Toronto.
-
Actually said they probably wouldn't all be traded, thus implying that some of them would. No big shocking news.
-
I believe because of his age when signing and because it wasn't a front loaded deal signed before last CBA, none of that applies.
-
I may be wrong but I don't think his retiring would effect anything at all.
-
That contract wasn't insurred so it didn't matter that it didn't count against the cap, it was still $22 million over the next four years they would have had to pay for someone not playing. They can't afford that, Toronto can and now Toronto gets $5 million in cap space they wouldn't have had for the next four years.
-
Its strictly a money deal. Toronto can afford Horton on LTIR, Columbus can't.

I tell people all the time( except for my kids of course) that the reason most of us stop the partying is we just run out of money and have to start making a living. You take the money restriction away and I might still be wondering how I made it home every morning.
-
Exactly. People don't remember but Gilbert skipped a couple of games and wanted to go back home because he was homesick and had trouble adjusting after coming from a French Canadien background. Imagine what he would have to be like for a kid from across the globe,

No. Horvat was the non starter in E .Kane to Vancouver talks
-
Aud, having trouble replying directly but it could just be that they listed them alphabetically and the Sabres' people just happened to fall that way.
-
I said it awhile back but the rift between Nolan and Muckler started when he refused to use Satan after Muckler had acquired him, preferring instead to play Ed Ronan and the like in the playoffs
-
Let me be clear. I want McDavid but if Buffalo doesn't get him, I want Toronto getting him.
-
I understand the hate for anyone but Buffalo getting McDavid but from a purely business point of view, Toronto getting McDavid would be a bonanza that would make the last three years tolerable. From a fan perspective, I would hope It turns into Marino / Kelly with 4 Cups replacing the four AFC Championships

Terrible news. RIP

Not that this has anything to do with trade rumors but a second round pick in the NHL cannot by definition be a bust. Spooner, like a lot of Sabres "prospects" got a lot of buzz early on and suddenly he is the prospect of the day only to eventually find his level.
-
Remember how Darcy was going to turn Biron and Norenen into all these assets or LA was going to get so much for Bernier or Ottawa or Anaheim.........goalies just don't bring the value that is being talked about here.
-
He still has one year so his decision would be whether to play out last year or take the security of a multi year deal.

Puck Daddy says GMTM's desire for Luke Richardson as coach
tom webster replied to SDS's topic in The Aud Club
There was talk that Richardson was getting the job right after Murray got hired. I always believed that he would eventually be Murray's guy and my belief is further strengthened every time Murray discussed Nolan. Don't know much about Richardson the coach, remember him as a player. Right now TM has my unconditional support and I make no secret of not being a Nolan fan. -
There are always deals agreed to in principal but not officially signed till free agency day.
-
Problem for Buffalo is one thing Winnipeg doesn't need is defenseman and they aren't going to trade him in season for picks and prospects when they are battling for the playoffs.
-
Yes I did. I actually thought he was the first Sabre ever but according to some, Punch actually made some waiver pick ups (Joe Daley) prior to the expansion draft after finding a loophole in the system. I haven't watched the clip yet, is that covered?
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think getting knocked out in the first round gets them moved all the way up to 15 and or 16. I believe the final spot is the Cup winner and either spots 27,28 and 29 or 26, 27, 28 and 29 are the division winners that didn't win the Cup but all the rest are left in order of points.

It's also worth noting that their possession numbers hinted at a better team then their record indicated.
