  1. Just another Bona grad trying to hang on to what was a basketball legacy back in the 70's. He will want to remember this year fondly remembering his fabled Reilly Center thwarting a young upstart UB team and forgetting that the Bulls played without two if its top 6 players and with a freshman guard playing his second or third road game. I will always fondly remember the days of Bob Lanier and Glenn Price and their battles with Calvin Murphy but now its UB's time. But hey, there is always the NIT and CBI .....
  2. The founder of capgeek, Matthew Wuest has passed. By all accounts a pretty remarkable guy.
  3. Penn State's season is over. The Bailey watch is on. A couple of free agents have already signed so he won't be the first if he chooses to leave college.
  4. You sexist. How do you know it's a guy from DC?
  5. I haven't read this whole thread so I apologize if this has been covered, but while I agree it is too early to write him off as an NHL player, the fact remains that he just might not be very good. He fell to #12 for a reason and if the Sabres were not so bereft of centers, I dare say he would have fallen father. In any case, I do agree with the sentiment that if he does develop into a useful NHL player it will not be with the Sabres. He will be part of the package that brings either a true #1 RW, #1LHD or #1 goaltender.
  6. I agree with you on Manuel but if Cassel can duplicate his second year in KC, the Bills' will be a playoff team.
  7. That has to be the one worry about him. He takes a beating and seems to be injured quite a bit.
  8. Looks like Boston strikes first with UMASS' Frank Vatrano.
  9. I'm thinking that the Bills are no longer so sure that they can structure a deal that Miami won't match. They still might try but by waiting and checking their options they also force Mismi to account for Clay's transition number plus they stop the Dolphins from executing their plan B I'm thinking that the Bills are no longer so sure that they can structure a deal that Miami won't match. 10. Actually they seem to like Clay as their Delanie Walker. I could still see Vernon Davis coming on a draft day trade.
  11. Besides Harvin's relationship with Rex and Sanjay, the appeal is twofold; 1) they feel they can get him on the one year "reclamation project" contract 2) they feel he can be the quintessential slot receiver.
  12. With all due respect, clearly the Rams wanted a QB in return. Besides, I'm not sure Bradford's worth the risk. If you rework his deal you are tied to him for three years, if you don't his cap hit prohibits you from doing much else this year. Like it or not, the Bills have a definite plan and seem to be sticking to it and I think that's a step forward.
  13. First, I doubt that he is getting all $60 million this year. Second, do you really thing any of these free agents deals are negotiated without ownership consent?
  14. I keep hearing conflicting reports about picks involved in that Bradford/ Foles trade but if Eagles moved up to 10 with that trade, it's hot to be about Mariotta and not Bradford
  15. He's not yet but apparently will be released because of their cap crunch.
  16. Don't disagree but with no evidence to the contrary, I will still go with "they" don't put a premium on guards. One more thing, the problem with all these rumors is that most of them are agent driven. The Iupati signing is a perfect example; I never once heard Arizona until today.
  17. Until someone can prove otherwise, Whaley controls personnel acquisitions with input from Ryan and staff. You dismiss a report by a respected journalist without any "proof" so I'm not sure short of a wire tap what I can provide you.
  18. I always doubted that Iupati was a real option. They just don't place that premium on guards. As for the point about Roman, maybe it was Roman who persuaded them that he wasn't worth it. Sometimes familiarity works against a player.
  19. I've heard Buffalo linked to both players listed above. I was just wondering if any of the posters more knowing of these players had any opinions on them or any other soon to be college free agents?
  20. I really think people are incorrectly assuming Powell and Jackson are connected. I think the decision is Brown or Jackson. Powell is more a threat to Dixon unless Boobie is played more as an h-back/fullback.They want their third back and fullback to be special team players. The open spot is McCoy's backup and Whaley wants that to be Brown.
  21. He had to be sent down because he was up on emergency recall. The team has only one more non emergency recall for the rest of the season and didn't want to use it yet.
  22. This is almost exactly how I feel. Mario and Hughes fill essentially the same position in Rex's base set. When they go to nickle and dine they will need another edge rusher or two and while I certainly wouldn't mind Hughes, I think they can replace the sacks. For the record, I do think Hughes is that good and if there were no cap, I'd advocate signing him .
  23. First, Reinhart is not only an exceptional offensive talent, he is beyond his years when it comes to defensive responsibility and awareness. Second, players chosen second overall don't spend a lot of time in the AHL. Murray will be tremendously disappointed if Samson is not a major contributor next year.
  24. I will be stunned. I not only expect him to play with the big boys, I expect him to play considerable minutes.
