  1. Actually no. It's interviewing 101. You don't blame anyone and you don't want your candidates to blame anyone. I can see him saying that he still feels their is untapped potential and asking them how they would have handled the situation and how they will handle it, but without establishing blame.
  2. I am 100% certain that Whaley, no matter what he believes, would ever lay blame, especially to prospective coaches, and especially while sitting in a room with the Pegulas. You may not like these people working for your favorite football team, you may not even like them as people, but you have to acknowledge that they are not stupid people. No one that has reached their level of success would do what's being reported.
  3. Let someone go on record before you pass judgement. Everyone has an agenda. This is the worst part of the internet. All this gossip is reported so often that in six months people will be quoting it as fact.
  4. I have to say, you may be a pain in the ass sometimes but you are definitely one of this boards assets.
  5. I don't remember the friend part of the story but like you I have no desire to spend too much time on this.
  6. Back in the 80's, sophomores didn't play varsity. 50 kids tried out for 30 spots, 15 varsity, 15 jv. The team had no one over 6'3" so a 5'10" sophomore(MJ) was placed on JV in lieu of a 6'1" junior. You can call it what you want but it definitely wasn't what Jordan likes to portray it as.
  7. I respect your opinion but you can't blaim Brandon for what went wrong without giving him credit for his successes. This team had trouble selling tickets during their Super Bowl years and his regionalization success is a large part of what made this franchise financially viable. The parachute clause was a by product of the uncertainty of the future and while you might not believe it, Marrone had options and a sharp attorney and nobody other then those three what was bargained away in return for the opt out clause. Whaley, I just don't get how he is held responsible for anything that happened more then two years ago. We will have to agree to disagree but at least we both are on the same page now.
  8. That high school cut myth continues to live on
  9. I agree with the optimism but don't understand you still wanting Whaley and Brandon gone. Whaley has been running the show and is largely responsible for the upward trend of the football operations and Brandon's work has at the very least resulted in surprised responses from people who saw the numbers during the sale process.
  10. I have said it before and I will say it again, even with the injuries, Myers is an excellent 2nd pairing defenseman and his contract will slit him there in years to come. So, if you get offered top line talent, you move him. If you get offered borderline top 6 forward top 4 dman, you pass. There is no urgency. No cap concerns. No reason to take anything less at this time.
  11. I know this may be the minority opinion but you don't have to know anything about football to hire a great football coach. You are hiring a senior VP/ management person. I don't want TP, KP or RB making personnel or game day decisions but I have no problem with them being involved in the hiring process. The key is after they hire them, let them and the rest of the football department do their job. Insist on being kept in the loop and apprised of what is going on but let them do what they were hired to do.
  12. Hard to believe but I think we both want the same guy although Shanahan/ Cutler appeals to me as well
  13. Out of all the coordinatos, I like Bevell as well. I'm curious as to why you would be against Shanahan.
  14. And how is there no penalty for Dez Bryant running on the field with no helmet on to argue the call?
  15. I can't see how anyone doesn't thing that at worst, Myers is a number 3/4 guy with what will be a good value contract. As such, unless you can get a top line prospect, there is absolutely no reason to move him.
  16. Now now. Given where this team is at, with a set defense and DC in place and some of the offensive pieces in place as well, I think bringing in an established head coach like Shanahan may be the way to go. There is just too much of an unknown when bringing an assistant in and the team is not in a place where we should want anyone learning on the job. I would love for one of the hot, innovative college coaches but even they are an unknown. With Shanahan, I feel like they can take a couple more steps in the process and then see if he has what it takes to finish the job.
  17. As per usual we are just going in circles and I'm not even sure you understand the initial point. I'm busy and I'm done but I will counter your first statement. First, I never said people don't develop as they mature. However, I will stick to my original point, and by the way, for the record, I am 54. I firmly believe that people don't change, only their circumstances do. Have a good day.
  18. Your ability not to follow the conversation can be infuriating at times. But since you asked, people don't develop personalities as they succeed. It's their personalities that allow them to succeed. Naturally, people make allowances for the ones that already succeed and dismiss the others until they succeed. Those that end up succeeding are geniuses, those that don't are ######. But none of this has anything to do with my initial post which you were unable to follow along with which was that Marrone's personality did not make him a bad hire.
  19. I was not saying it was provable either way. I was merely countering a point which was that Brandon should be fired for hiring a narcissistic bully. Let's leave Brady out of it, they are all that to some degree and its why despite all of his personality flaws they still would of rather had him back. Polian was as big a bully as they come, wanted to fire anyone who spoke Ill of him and wanted to bring in AJ Smith whose firing provoked major media celebrations in San Diego. It is what fuels these guys. In my opinion, the ones that succeed are the ones who can admit their mistakes and move on without losing their edge. And yes, I know there are exceptions, which only validate the rule.
  20. I really don't want to be into an unprovable theory. My only point is that several successful coaches proudly wear the narcissistic bully badge
  21. That's a kind description of Belichek. If Marrone had Brady he would be a detail oriented genius.
  22. To be fair to Hamilton that link looks like he thought Hodhson was going to be named captain, not that he thought he should be
  23. First, coming out of juniors Hodgson was considered a leader on par with Trevor Linden Second, I never heard Hamilton say Hodgson but he was 100% certain Nolan was going to name Stafford captain
  24. The 49'ers also denied Washington permission to talk to ther DC. Wade Phillips now interviewing
  25. Interviews requested wth Pep Hamilton, Mike Shanahan and Hue Jackson
