  1. I like Adams. I think he’s done terrific things and I’m more optimistic about the Sabres then I’ve been in a long time. I’m also very disappointed in his failure to address the goaltending situation and I believe a veteran center to play between KO and Z is called for. I also believe he still may do something and that there are people he relies on who believe the same thing. I am 100% sure that their private assessment of UPL is considerably lower then their public posture and that gives me hope that something will happen before camp, I also believe he failed to weaponize cap space when he had the opportunity and he misread the Ullmark situation. Ultimately though, the good far outweigh the bad, at least in my opinion.
  2. Yes, franchise values are skyrocketing because business is so bad. It amazes me how people buy into the doom and gloom. The cap will be mid 90’s if not higher within five years.
  3. About two years before they moved to Dallas, but technically same franchise I guess.
  4. Yes Larson spent most of his career with Detroit. He did plsy for the Minnesota North Stars, not Dallas.
  5. It’s too bad that Malone’s body never held up. I think he could have been a decent bottom six forward.
  6. I still don’t like Jost being a top 12. He was great considering he was free last year but I would be more comfortable if he was just depth and insurance in case Krebs doesn’t develop.
  7. There is one major need(goalie) and a couple of important (in my mind) pieces.
  8. There is a large gap between repricating what Murray did and doing what Adams appears to be content with doing.
  9. Most people agree that signing expensive, older free agents isn’t the way to go. What I’m advocating is trading some of these prospects to fill holes to speed up the process. To be clear, I’m talking about two or three piece’s depending on how some of the players develop. Their cap space advantage will go away after this year as the cap corrects itself. This off-season was the time to be aggressive.
  10. But valuations aren’t an exact science. The Rangers valuation of prospects has proven wrong. Players they felt were untouchable during the Eichel negotiations may not even sniff the NHL. Even if Adams is right about the quality of his prospects, is refusing to upgrade the roster by trading guys who may never impact the NHL roster prudent? Only time will tell.
  11. History shows that it’s more likely that he’s overvaluing his prospects then he’s judiciously sticking to his valuations. And I’m not speaking just to you, but the board at large.
  12. I’m amused by all this “number one prospect pool” talk and I have an honest question. Have any Stanley Cup winners had the number one prospects pool within five years of winning the Cup? I’m not even sure where to look.
  13. Again, all these pats on the back for him standing pat with his plan flies in the face of what I know to be true. He has tried, and failed to improve the team this off-season. Players have refused to wave, he has placed a higher value on his prospects, teams have asked for more then he perceives as value, other teams paid more then he wanted. Bottom line, if the team enters this season as currently constituted, it won’t be because Kevyn wanted it that way, it will be because he couldn’t make anything happen. Don’t get me wrong. This doesn’t necessarily mean they will fail. Some of the best deals teams persue are ones they don’t complete. It just means that he knows this team needs improvement but hasn’t been able to address it.
  14. Like you I find Lance very good but he has always exaggerated the value of marginal AHL players.
  15. I was told they went back to making it but it wouldn’t surprise me. Someone else told me Santoro’s doesn’t at all locations either.
  16. A) Hockey Ops is generally on vacation after free agency B) There are “good” times to announce these things C) There is no impending deadline When it makes sense to all parties relative to timing, travel, public relations, it will be announced. Of course, it’s always possible Rasmus’ agent said, WTF, you said you were going to get a real goalie😉
  17. I understand but there have been public articles written that refer to some of these numbers. There is a reason you won’t find a single article from the last few years that list him as an NHL prospect. People that debate these things for a living do not have a high opinion of him. He has largely been a Buffalo thing. It would be great to be proven wrong but I just don’t see it.
  18. I’m sorry, the people I trust and the numbers they use to evaluate goaltenders say different. Also, this is a league were five goals can be the difference between playoffs and lottery pick. Any statistical difference can be significant.
  19. Last I knew, Picasso’s, Santoro’s, Just Pizza, Imperial, Bocce, One Pie, and most other premium places made their own dough. I know La Nova was contemplating using dough made to their recipe by Latinas and they probably went that route. With a he struggle finding labor, the cost of a mixer and the eccentricities of dough making, I’d bet it’s costs smart for most little guys to use Al Cohen’s dough distributed by local vendors.
  20. I know Amazon sells Battistoni cup and char. Never bought it from them but its listed.
  21. I believe he is talking about the one near the old Eastern Hills Mall. Forgot what it was before but it’s a huge place
  22. Maybe because Adams acknowledged that they came close to acquiring a forward during free agency before price got out of their range.
