I think he's improved the team's consistency a bit. They've done a better job this season of stringing wins together. Their defensive play is also improved. Unfortunately they're still streaky and that's mostly due to a lack of offensive talent. Plus, Jack likes him.

I expect a good game from Washington tonight. They're fighting Philly for the division and they've got a few nights off after this game, so I bet they'll be throwing everything they can at the Sabres.

My game plan is to log off

If only someone in a position of power were able to add more offensive talent to the Sabres, perhaps back in August of 2019, when it was obvious that this is how things were going to play out. Vladimir Sobotka, 2nd Line RW.

Yup. I think it's happening.

Media will no longer allowed in NHL Locker Rooms

Agreed. I'd be fine with no interviews. Release a statement at the end of the season and call it a day. -
Salt Lake is a good city though. And you get used to the quirky booze laws eventually. The last time I was there I might have gotten hammered and then went to see choir practice at the Temple lol it was weird but hey

My feeling is that the Pegulas played a hand (the bonus) in the O'Reilly fiasco, and perhaps Botterill is getting a pass on that. But I don't get the feeling they've been involved in anything else he's done, and that's what he should be getting graded on at the very least.
-
I'm really on the fence about the chances of this happening, and I think it depends on what Botterill sold Pegula on, and whether Pegula thinks that he's achieving it. For me, the choices Botterill has made since last spring indicate to me that he sold Terry on the long term benefits of patience and savvy asset management. If we use picks, prospects, and the cap properly we set the team up for long term success despite some short term pain. But if we want to grade Botterill on his asset management, he has very clearly failed at that one thing. We've had plenty of patience and pain, but where's this "asset management"? The question is whether Pegula sees it the same way we do, or is he still bought in to what Jason sold him.

I was really worried this might be where we would end up. And the big red flag we'll all point to will be that Botterill fired a coach, but left the roster alone. I don't think any of us around here believed in the off-season that hiring Krueger would be the only thing the team needed, or that it would end up being pretty much the only thing Botterill would do. But here we are in March and it sure looks like Botterill felt that hiring a new coach is all it would take.

He was always a bit of a loose cannon even in his younger days, but you gotta think whatever brain trauma he suffered as a player isn't helping things any.

Dude really needs to get off the sauce and get some help. Mug shots are never kind to anyone, but he looks way more messed up than just having a few too many pops. Those eyes are in another galaxy.

I played against Ray Maluta in a pickup skate in Rochester one time. Couldn't go anywhere near the guy with the puck or he'd just take it from you. He didn't even need to skate.
-
Man, I don't know if firing Botterill is the right idea, but I don't know if it's the wrong idea either. I'm firmly on the fence. I think if Krueger wasn't the coach I'd be off the fence. But I like Krueger.

What's the subject matter? There's a guy I follow on twitter who's an Army vet who writes Sci-fi and he publishes with Kyanite. https://kyanitepublishing.com/authors/

Believe me, I like it. But you have to think the NHL brass doesn't like how it makes their league look compared to the other pro leagues. I like our garbage sport.
-
The Ayers story is fun precisely because of how absurd it is that a supposedly professional sports league would allow something like it to happen. It's fun because it's comically 3rd rate.
-
Why not? College teams do it. The NFL has plenty of backup QBs. There's no reason the NHL can't put its big boy pants on and let teams carry 3 goalies.
-
Here's the thing, just let teams carry three goalies instead of two. Dress two every game and the third can sit in the press box unless they're needed.
