Get him some playing time before he gets some at the NHL level? Yeah, that's exactly how it works. Ulmark has 3 games under his belt, so he's not exactly been smothered with ice time either.

My random thought of the day after hearing some coverage this morning: The Democrat party seems to have gotten to the same point the Republicans were at 4-8 years ago. If they don't win this one, I don't have the slightest clue who they'll be throwing out there in 2020. The Republicans at least have a few younger guys out there who are very likely to be in the spotlight for years to come. Is there any young, future of the party-type out there?

I'm right there with you. I don't know what can be accomplished at this point. If we all agree that we paid too much, does that magically re-order the 2014 draft and we suddenly have a roster with 7 different players?

That's exactly what it is. I'd even consider the possibility that Lieuwen gets the Rochester start tonight and then is called back up to start Saturday (depending on how he plays, obviously).

I'd be curious to see how many teams are putting their color guy down in between the benches like Ray is. I feel like it hurts the chemistry between two announcers.

I haven't watched a Dallas game in a couple years, but I knew who the top color guy would be the second I saw that list. It's nice to know that some things haven't changed.

The story I'm hearing now is that the mother spanked a kid while the mother-in-law was staying with them, who then called the police. I'm not quite sure if that story adds up or not, but it does sound like that is one of the more interesting in-law dynamics out there.

I stand by my statement, specifically because of the imagery that comes to mind from CV's follow up. If that's not art, I don't know what is.

I sense a Wibur post coming any second now.

Divorcing Christie Brinkley has to be far worse than any song.

Their house is directly next to the mail kiosk, so it's one we will be walking by every day. I haven't met them yet though, other than a simple hello while walking by one day. It does seem like a strange living situation though as I've seen at least 4 different adults and a handful of kids. I'll have to do some digging though, as I feel like we need to be aware of what happened. My next door neighbor has a friend in the police department, so I'll have to check with him next time I see him.

The best part of the whole thing is that I posted a very similar message on facebook and my 71 year old aunt liked it. I kind of want to play the song for her now to let her in on the joke.

There's a new family that moved into my neighborhood in the last 2 weeks or so. Let's just say that this is a family that could wind up being profiled (I'm leaving this intentionally vague). Well anyway, last week Wednesday I was out for a walk and there were two cop cars in front of their house. I find out today that the mother was arrested for assault that day. That's not exactly the best way to introduce yourself to a neighborhood, getting arrested at home about a week into living there. I've pulled up the arrest report and there's essentially no detail there. It may just be nothing, but obviously I'm not crazy about seeing something like this so soon after someone moved in.

I went to a wedding this weekend and the last song that popped up on my radio as I drove there was "I used to love her" from Guns N Roses. It felt oddly appropriate for a wedding.

There was talk of wiping droid memories in Star Wars (I refuse to use the new titles), so it's not exactly a new idea. Didn't Uncle Owen want their memories wiped before buying them? But anyway, I prefer to think that the midget inside of R2 is himself a Jedi so he's in on the master plan of slowly building Luke up to his potential. -
It seemed like the whole lineup was in flux for most of the night. The line combinations were changing left and right throughout the entire game. Powerplays will obviously have a lot to do with that, but it seemed to be happening far more often than just that. Like I said earlier, I haven't been able to watch much yet this year, so maybe this has been a common thing, but it was very obvious last night. The shootout itself was ridiculously slow too. Most of the shooters were approaching the net at a snail's (Franson) pace. I can't wait to be rid of them permanently. It's a thought for another thread, but bring on continuous 3-on-3 OT. They'll end fast.

I started watching this one at around 8 or 8:30 last night. With some selective fastforwarding, I was pretty much caught up to real time near the end. With about 5 minutes left and a 1-0 score, my DVR recording cut out and I had to quickly scramble to find the actual station to see if the game was still going. I find it with 1 minute left and a 1-1 score. Man was I angry about that. Anyway, I haven't been able to catch many of the game yet, so a lot of things are still new to me: 1. Franson skates like me. I am beyond terrified watching him in a foot race. 2. Reinhart compared to his brief stay last year is night and day. There's a confidence to him now and I look forward to watching him grow as a player. 3. Johnson terrifies me too. We are going to need a lot more of these lopsided shot advantages, because sooner or later, he's going to have one of those games where even the beach balls find the back of the net. 4. An older, slowing down Gionta and his lack of reach is not a good combination. I'm seeing too many opportunities where a human sized player would easily disrupt a pass or rush by getting their stick on the puck.

Didn't they wipe the droids memories after all of that? -
This sounds like a summary of the average beer league game.

Is there any chance a lot of the guys live out that way back then? There had to have been closer options, even in a time when there were far less rinks. Today's players have that ridiculously long trek of a block or two (uphill both ways) to get to the practice rink. I have no idea how they do it. :D

What a hilarious image. And it's amazing to think how far things have come now in terms of rink development. Having to go all the way to Leisure for optional skates? Not a chance.

I miss those. A rolling thread with periodic updates would be great.
