Donato is the most recent. I'd say it's pretty rare though. The only big case of "leaving early" that I can think of was when Louis Leblanc went 1st overall and then only lasted at Harvard for 1 year before jumping to the Q. That was a case where he didn't seem to fit there all that well.

I think the two of you could sort it out if given the chance. The petty pile on of inside jokes from others runs it completely off the rails. It turns into nothing more than people blindly defending one of their own. There's no way an outsider/casual poster can ever cut through all of that. I'll echo all of this. There's value to be added here if both sides can move past a few things.

What makes you think they don't? I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't any here since it's a relatively small board, but I'll pretty much guarantee that there are some over at TSW. I had a friend in the college hockey media. It was a fun day when I learned the anonymous usernames for a lot of their writers over on another board. I had many interactions with those people over the years and I never even knew it.

As long as they don't force feed it to me, people can like whatever food they damn well please.

It's not so much this thread, you're right. The water was poisoned a long time ago with the posts from drain. I wish people could take a step back and start over, but that ship has sailed. There's been a mass exodus on this board and I can speak first hand when I say that a lot of this kind of stuff is a big reason why. People will blame the crappy hockey, but there's more to it than that.

What an odd one this whole thing was. I will never understand the pure hatred so many tend to have for any media types. With the amount of venom spewed at them 24/7, I don't fault them one bit for returning serve. There may have been a day where these people and any other public figures were up on a pedestal, symbols of everything we wanted to be, but those days are long gone. We want all this access to everyone and now we get to see that they're people just like everyone else, flaws and all. We want that access, but yet at the same time, we're horrified when we see them acting like anyone else out there. I for one appreciate when someone like Wawrow shows up and interacts a bit. Unfortunately, the response is damn near universal every time and they're always run off. It's happened about a million times on TSW at this point. What I see in this thread now is a bunch of people piling on specific writers over and over, but then they act all offended when that person fights back. Why is he so much more wrong than anyone else, people who are doing the same exact thing? What would any of you do if someone repeatedly called you out publicly for your work? Now I know that some will say as a public figure, they need to be above that, but today's world of twitter and all other social media have completely destroyed that.

Sure you can finish a hit after the puck is gone. What you can't do is finish the hit when two giant numbers are staring you in the face. Antipin knew it was coming, last second he gets his left arm up to brace for contact along the boards. What he's not expecting is for the hit to be so high and from his left. If you anticipate contact from one direction, but then get it from another, any attempt at bracing for impact isn't going to do you much good. People aren't asking for a contact-free game, they're asking for a game where people don't get hit from behind or in the head. The former has never been legal in this game.

By the time 10:30 rolled around, it definitely wasn't. We've been well below average for a couple weeks. But that actually made it much easier. I probably could have worked very comfortably until around 3 am if I wanted to. It goes back to seasonal today though, so I'm guessing it won't be as relaxing this time around.

We talk of a preference towards college players, but when looking at last year's draft, I see a very obvious trend. It happens to overlap a bit with the college one, but I'll be curious to see if it continues. And yes, it's only one draft, so it's not yet a trend.

We have a 10X10 covered patio that we just had the framing installed to make it a screen porch yesterday. That room's going to be great once the spring weather shows up. What wasn't awesome was being outside until 10:30 last night painting. Even with that, I only got through half of the first of 3 coats of paint.

The schools are usually flexible with them. If he wants to finish the year, they'll find a way to make it happen. It makes the school look better. Summer is usually the easiest route, but they can also work around the player's schedule.

You need to keep in mind that the team itself may have no interest in getting Mittelstadt into the AHL playoffs. Borgen's got 3 years of college hockey under his belt. That's a lot of extra time for physical development to where he could be much more suited for the grind of a professional playoff series than Mittelstadt would be. This is the time to get Casey his quick cup of tea and then give him a full offseason with the organization.

So much of that is going to come from other sources like team depth, roster makeup, and quality of opponents. Right off the bat I can say that Minnesota played a much tougher schedule. I'd also imagine that the core of defensemen on that BU roster lead to more production across the board. That's the big thing about these drafts. We can look at so many numbers, but there's always going to be more than just that which factors into their draft status. One thing I'd add into the comparison you were making is that you can expect Tkachuk to be making the jump to the NHL sooner than Wahlstrom would. Maybe things have changed a bit in these Donato days, but I full expect a Harvard kid to stick around there for a bit. BU might as well be Kentucky at this point. Having a kid stay around in college for an extra year shouldn't be a big factor when making your draft pick, but I can see why it might be to some GMs.

So where are you pulling this thought that Minnesota was a worse team? BU was only in the tournament because they won their auto-bid. Minnesota was ranked higher in everything that matters. I realize it has very little to do with your point as a whole, but I had to throw it out there. This is a time of the year where so many oddities are thrown out there about the college game.

Is that what happened to him? I must have missed that, but always wondered why he disappeared. I could never read a thing from that guy. I would spend the entire post wondering when he would fix his damn username.

Petersen wasn't going to get a heavy workload in Rochester with Ullmark there. He's not going to get that in LA either with Jack Campbell there. Based on the choice he made, I have to assume that he realized he has a long road to becoming an effective NHL regular.

We have this place in our building where you can buy random drinks food. You cash out at these little kiosk things, so it's pretty much like the self-cashout systems at any grocery store. This morning I buy something that comes out to 49 cents. I put a dollar in the machine and the damn thing spit out 51 pennies at me.

Well that and people just make stuff up about how our prospects are currently playing.

So this whole discussion comes up as a result of a single win? Neither goalie has done anything to distinguish himself from the other. Lehner's played an extra 100 minutes and has slightly better numbers, but Johnson has that magic number in the win column. I've got a word that describes this situation much better than controversy does. That word is "blah". Right now there's a whole lot of nothing from the position.

If it really is a GI issue, I imagine it's much less embarrassing for the player to call it the flu. No one from any walk in life ever wants to be associated with those symptoms.
