  1. Has anyone other than him done this? It's hard to take it as a signal when most if not all of the other elites have gone with the max term. That's a very short list of players though. The one place where it's always going to differ from bounceyball is that one single player can't drive the game of hockey like they can over there.
  2. Isn't pretty much every contract signing about money though? This one leaves him the option to head somewhere else if he wants out. So there is definitely motivation other than money involved here. Labeling something as 100% about money is way too extreme. It doesn't leave the room for any discussion.
  3. I don't want to say it's 100% about the money. He could have guaranteed around 50% more money than he got. Sure there's a bigger contract waiting in five years, but there's a definite risk involved in assuming you're healthy or performing well enough to get that next contract. There's a reason why you so rarely see this move from the top players.
  4. Somebody doesn't want to be in Toronto long term.
  5. If by some chance they were interested in him, I wouldn't be surprised if there was something in the Fedun trade where they wouldn't bother with a claim.
  6. It makes me wonder if he knew who didn't rake the bunker properly (at least in his mind). Then the next day he wound up in front of that guy and was leaving crap for him. I'm completely pulling this one out of my ass, but since there's no video, I might as well make stuff up.
  7. I completely misread his info. I thought it had him listed as being in the final year. But anyway, I'd imagine he'd wind up as a part of the package. I don't know what Columbus has in system, but they'd have to throw someone in net, even if it's a temporary solution in Doug Reimer (and Florida probably eating some of his salary). It's actually the opposite. The earlier Luongo retires, it's probably better for Vancouver. Sure they get a longer cap hit, but it's much smaller in amount. Just picture him retiring in that last year. It's only a 1 year hit, but at $8 million. That would certainly railroad any plans they might have at that moment.
  8. I'd imagine that he wants to be in Florida or nowhere at all. That's a big part of how he wound up back there in the first place. Retirement is probably the most likely option which, from what Brawndo posted, hits Vancouver the hardest.
  9. Odd. Luongo is signed through 2022 at a $4.53 million cap hit. That would be a big combined hit for two goalies. I'm not really sure what the recapture penalty would be if/when he retires.
  10. As long as you haven't finished the full meal yet, you shouldn't need to go find anything else.
  11. I'm surprised they didn't just fold the disc over a couple times until it fit. That's the only way you that it would actually be thick enough (that's what she said). You know that stuff that you usually eat? It can be used to make one thing stick to another.
  12. You'll probably have to burn the whole thing down. Fortunately, it does solve the lack of heating issue.
  13. You just need to cut and paste. Do you have scissors handy?
  14. My wife watches that garbage all the time. It is ridiculously bad. I feel like you'd find better acting ability in a high school auditorium. And that one dude never takes off his backwards hat.
  15. I’m very lucky that it only snows here once a year. I’ve got a corner lot that is fully sidewalked. So I have probably 10x as much space to shovel as anyone else.
  16. We need a pest control service down here because spiders are everywhere (including that pesky black widow we had one day). As a part of it, they put down a couple glue traps on the sides of the garage door for mice. This morning I noticed that we finally got our first mouse. I'm assuming the cold weather made it seek shelter, but now I get to hunt down that point of entry. The pest service is primarily for the bugs, but since they do put down those traps for the mice, I suppose I can check with them to see if their service has any guarantees about keeping them away.
  17. Is he lucky that Don Waddell is such a horrible GM or should he be credited for taking advantage of that horrible GM? This specific portion of the discussion seems a bit pointless to me. Luck or not, he still needs to be judged by what he has done and this trade is in fact something he did.
  18. Draft pools vary from year to year. But anyway, I have a hard time calling any early first round draft pick a steal. They're supposed to be the cream of the crop. There's the crap shoot element where some will make it and others won't, but "steal" is a bit over the top.
  19. Can we at least get the bike back from the basement of the alamo before we give Texas back?
  20. The high five has always seemed a bit awkward to me, so I totally get it. And the crowd was buzzing. But both are to be expected from that one. From a distance I bet that looked really good. With the tv view, the only thing hurting is going to be the rookie's fist from repeatedly hitting the shoulder pads.
  21. I think just about every punch in that fight was a whiff. At most there's a series of wildly thrown shots connecting with the cap of the shoulder pads.
  22. If this was a poll, I'd vote incomplete.
  23. Your timing isn't too bad if you're interested in making the trip to Raleigh for the game in March.
  24. Here’s a perfect example of the high quality of hockey coverage here in NC. Keep in mind this is the guy who hosts their pregame radio show each night, while talking about Aho in the all star game: ”I was surprised to see him skating on a line with two divisional foes”
  25. Am I seriously seeing one person overvalue* prospects while LGR is undervaluing* them? My world has been turned upside down. *Over and under is based solely on poster 1's valuation relative to poster 2's.
