That and we also don't factor in the staff who winds up developing these players. I've really started to lean much more in that direction in recent years. Yes, player talent/ability obviously plays a role, but I think the developmental staff is a more important role.

I'm not so sure we have a unique vibe here. I can only thing of two reporters showing up here and we chased both of them off. I've seen that exact thing play out in the college hockey community as well. To me it looked pretty much exactly like what we've had here and TSW. I think most people are welcoming, but the few voices who do cause the trouble, it is almost completely due to the high volume of their attacks.

All the people who like to claim they can draft better than this team has, what exactly are those people using? Quite honestly, I think it's a model that can work in this day and age. You don't clear out the department completely, but you can certainly get by with less bodies out there than you could 20 or so years ago.

I can't picture how any of these "press conferences" can ever work in the zoom format. They're almost always a trainwreck.

There's also people out there who expect the reporter to tell us everything, sources and what not. That's a quick path to career suicide.

Another attempted joke? The only way it can possibly work is if that hands on coach only focuses on the NHL side of things, focusing on the players of that level. He then needs to be on the same page with the developmental guys and trust their evaluation of the prospects. So yeah, it really comes down entirely to your last sentence. He's going to need a good group around him so it will be very interesting to listen to the next wave of hire over the upcoming weeks.

Not that I disagree with you, but there is not a GM in this league who is scouting all of the leagues out there. That's why they have a scouting staff.

And if nothing else, bodies always get moved around after a GM change. So we at least have something interesting to look out for.

I don't know how I'd call it too late. The official offseason is going to start at some undetermined point in the future. As long as they did this before that, it's definitely not too late.

I caught bits and pieces of each movie in the Star Wars trilogy over the course of the day. I really miss the original versions. Every single addition they made in the 90s re-release sticks out like a sore thumb.
